Bulis/Higgins
(Preview)
On NHL.com, Bulis and Higgins are both listed as centres. Is this true? I thought they were both wingers. If they have played centre, why not make Bulis the #2 centreman and Higgins #3? Or Bulis #1, dropping Saku to #2? Bulis has been our best player in 2006 , I would say...

good time for a slump
(Preview)
It seems that usually every year almost all teams go through some sort of slump, weather it is a long or short term. if there was any time for a slump , which montreal (hopefully over) had, it is better to have it now than the last part of the season! as now the habs will get hot and make the playoffs! wishful t...

How do you post an image. I have a *.jpg and copy paste doesn't work and I also tried the BB Tags from the help, but no luck. So I'm obviously missing something here. What am I doing wrong? Can someone help?? Thanks!

Souray to Chicago comment
(Preview)
For those who whatched the game on RDS, did you catch the comment that was made that Chicago was interested in Souray? I didn't catch it all so I don't know if the mentioned for who or even if I heard correctly.
Anyone catch that??

Yes, I finally made it. Of all places I'm staying right down the hall from where John lennon wrote Give Peace a chance back in 1970. A little bit of history right there. It seems I brought a little bit of luck along with me. Two straight shut outs, who would have thought it. I have a lot of thoughts to s...

Looking for our second win of the 5 game winning streak! HOPEFULLY Huet is still in net!!! Gainey...dont pull a blockhead move and put theo in, especially after a performance like that from huet this afternoon!! Our offense MUST get better though. A stat i liked to see gone is the 8 consecutive p...

Have fun sitting Theo!!!
(Preview)
Well Theo better get comfortable sitting on the bench, because if we want to make the playoffs, Huet is the guy to get us there. I still think having a goaltender making over 4 million a year is too much to sit out...Trade him, anywhere, for Dman or Forwards, don't worry about our goaltending situ...

Koivu, Ryder & Higgins
(Preview)
Keeping this line together should be a no-brainer for Bob and Carbo!?!? Saku seems to feed off the energy of these two…mean-while, Higgins and Ryder can benefit from Koivu’s playmaking abilities!
Just imagine if Bob could find a capable long-term solution to centering the likes...

BG now .500 as coach
(Preview)
After back to back wins this weekend, the Habs are now 6-6 with BG as coach. It will be interesting to see if he can pull this team to a new level. My guess is we will need to be 8-10 games above .500 to make the playoffs so that means 90-92 points by seasons end.

Better than Garon?
(Preview)
It's way too early to tell, but so far Huet's numbers are stacking up against the oft-missed Garon's
Mathieu Garon 2.89 GAA .906 pct
Cristobal Huet 2.47 GAA .926 pct

long shifts

I wonder if part of the reason Julien got sick of Perezhogin was the fact that he takes over-long shifts.
Also guilty:
Kovalev, big-time
and
Ribeiro and Zednik, but not as bad as they were earlier this season

I was ready to give up on this guy, but I thought he played a great game today. He hit when necessary, was good at getting the puck out of the defensive zone, and actually spent a bit of time uncharacteristically buzzing around in the offensive zone!
I note he was named the game's third sta...

Man, are the Flyers ever beat up! That maybe the luck we need to change our misfortunes!
I sure liked the balance in the line-up today! Saks was strong on his skates today! Didn't fall, take lazy penalties or caugh the puck up as much! If he continues to play like our best centermen, this will help for...

Game summary from NHL.com

MONTREAL (AP) - Cristobal Huet continues to give the Montreal Canadiens the kind of goaltending they expected to get from Jose Theodore.
Huet recorded his second shutout in as many days, and Michael Ryder got his first career hat trick to lead the Canadiens to a 5-0 win over the Philadelphia Flyers...

Cristobal!
(Preview)
He's only played in 14 games, so these things are volatile, but Huet's stats are: GAA of 2.47 and Save % of .926. Those numbers would place him seventh and second, respectively, in the NHL. Not bad!
(By the way, I get a kick how they call it a save percentage, but it is expressed as a d...

Momentum
(Preview)
Ummmm. Confidence in the goalie= extra player on the ice. Thank You Huet. I don't think he is spectacular by any stretch but he at least makes the saves he should and throws in a few key saves on top. So you see, that thing called lack of momentum can result in getting only 17 shots on goal etc. You got...

Turnaround or Blip?

There are two ways to assess the weekend's results:
Glass half full: Two shutouts, Huet emerges as clear #1. Defense played great both days, and some of the forwards (Souray, Ryder) are shaking off rust. Great hustle, and winning the little battles. Markov is back to st...
