Shutout! ....good stretch for the Habs. Team effort. And Huet!

Fabulous game all around.  I don't think I've seen the defensive squad play so well all year.  Blocked shots all over the place.

And when they got through, Huet was there to stop them.

Jose who????

Of course listening to P Mcguire on TSN it was like ya Habs fans you are winning, but remember there are lots of injuries to the Flyers. Who cares the Habs are making a good effort  buy the Richards Character is a dirty player. Good for Huet.   Hey Mario keep up the insider stuff  I like it and the good luck too

And my buddy Pierre (sic) sure loves Koivu.  The word "leadership" was bandied about all afternoon.

I sure like that new player we picked up lately, I think his name is "Mo Mentum" unfortunately, I didn't catch his number. "smile:

LOL..McGuire is still an idiot..he goes on and on like he has the inside scoop on every team in the league when he really knows very little. Now I have criticized Gainey for his chaoching but have to commend him today. Moving Ribs to the top line with Kovalev (or demoting Kovalev to the 2nd line whichever way you wanna look at it) was  agreat move. It took some pressure off is Saks and really illustrated what I have been saying all year. Saks would make a great second line center where he is not relied on as much (and NOOOOO I am not saying Ribs is a FIRST line center). But get Koivu a decent center ahead of him, use him on the 2ndl line PP unit..and watch his production go up and his career be extended.

Can you imagine if the Habs had picked players like Bergeron, Gagne, Carter, Richards, etc.. instead of any of the players they picked?

Johnny- do you see now what I ahve been saying about Saks as a secondary center? Boy did he look ALOT more relaxed and at ease out there!!!

He was not a second line center. But I get your point and have agreed with you in the past. Let's put it this way. No one will take Ribby in a trade to Gainey has done the right thing. Put Kovalev with him to help him out. THAT'S what is happening...

Great game! well Philly has long injury list, but who cares win is win. When Ryder made his 3rd goal did someone see that spearing that Koivu got straight at his balls/groin. No punisment again!!! from our side. I hate that every team thinks that they can do almost anything to our players and not to fear any punisment.

I agree that Sak needs help. Whether he is first line or second line he can't do it alone. Bonk was supposed to help him out along with Ribs but that hasn't happened yet. Let's hope this is a start of things to come.

I also think we need to start drafting based on position, i.e. Defence and Centers.

No he was not a second line center today per se, but the fact that he was not with Kovalev and I think not expected to produce as much helps him. He was usually on the 2nd PP unit today as well. This just gives Saks more rest and takes the heat off of him..and it showed today.

Did anyone else notice that Perezhogin was really flying out there? He worked very well with Kovalev and Ribs. Nice to see riberio with some confidence now. Todays game reminded me of the team in the first month of the season. This is how they can play. ...........And just a side note...I find it kinda funny how Perezhogin was the one who put Primeau out for the year with a solid hit...considering Perezhogin hits little on the best of days.

I think you meant Pitkanen, not Richards. Richards is Canadian. Pitkanen is finnish.

And did all of you notice that Koivu and Ribs had a chat at one commercial break! I see little light at the end of the tunnel.

If you meant Pitkanen(that little piece of sh#t. I hate those cowards that do those kind of things) his participation is not that sure thing yet.

Barry, I always bow to your in-depth knowledge of the game. but Koivu had almost 17 minutes today, one of the highest totals amongst the forwards - he played PP, PK, and regular shift.  So I don't think there was any responsibility taken off his shoulders at all.  He simply played a good game.

I will agree that splitting him up with Kovalev is a good thing.  I'm starting to think Kovalev doesn't play well with anyone but himself (if you know what I mean).  I'd like to find one Hab with which he has chemistry.

I also thought he was flying - like the Perezhogin of the first of the year.  He put a move on one of their defensemen at the start of the game that was a thing of beauty.  Too bad he missed on a few scoring chances.  A few of them did; the score could easily have been 10-0 today (or say 10-3).

Wasn't it Darian Hatcher he made that play on?
