Looking for our second win of the 5 game winning streak! HOPEFULLY Huet is still in net!!! Gainey...dont pull a blockhead move and put theo in, especially after a performance like that from huet this afternoon!! Our offense MUST get better though. A stat i liked to see gone is the 8 consecutive periods without 10 shots gone after the 3rd period where montreal i believe had 15 shots? Correct me if im wrong. Anyways, Kovalev, Ryder, Ribiero, Koivu, ZEDNIK all have to start scoring, these are the guys who we pay to score. So im expecting a habs win ( 5 games remember ) Close game ill say a 4-3 OT final in shootout

There is no way I would badmouth Theo because he is a good goalie and obviously there is something wrong. I think the main problem is not only that the team has lost confidence in Theo but that he has lost confidence in himself...a vicious circle. I agree that Gainey should keep Huet in for the next game. It is said that a goalie is only as good as the team in front of him but until now it has been Theo that has held the team in time and again. So until he gets it together..let Huet play.
The big players have to pick it up. Thank goodness for players like Higgins, Begin, Markov, etc. Koivu does his best night in and night with what he's got and I was was pleased to see Souray score.
However, a win is a win......so keep on keeping on Habs

I am happy with the win today but it was Huets win, not the Habs. He was forced to make WAYYYY too many highlit erfeal saves while on the other end, we had 27 shots at Thomas but I would guess very few legitimate scoring opportunities. Our top line is still virtually non-existent and I have no idea what is up with them. Having said that. a win is a win at this stage..even an ugly one

Enough is enough, a win is a win, cause Theo was out and Huet was in.

Barry, I agree with you on alot, hell, maybe even most of your opinions, but not this time. Yes, Huet made many spectacular saves, but, isn't that what goalies at this level are supposed to do? On the other end, Thomas also had to come up very large and sometimes lucky, to keep the B's in the game. What is our top line? Is it whatever line Koivu is on? The lines have changed not only game to game, but it seems shift to shift. And I didn't think think this one was ugly (with the exception of all of the penalties). Geez, I even saw Bonk putting out effort today.
Oh, wait, I do agree with one of your points,a win is a win (I can't think of anyone who could argue that).

According to TSN, Huet is playing, which is good news for us. I think I may buy into Johab's theory of the 5 game winning streak so I'll predict a win. Low scoring not unlike today's game, but Huet will come up big again to further solidify his reasons to take the #1 job. I'll say maybe 2-1 or 3-1. And he'll have no chance on the goal.
MONTREAL – Fresh off an inspiring 2-0 win over the Bruins on Saturday, the Canadiens will look to sweep their traditional Super Bowl weekend matinees when they host the Philadelphia Flyers today at 3 p.m.
Yesterday afternoon, Cristobal Huet kicked aside 35 shots to earn his first shutout as a Montreal Canadien, while Andrei Markov marked his return to the lineup with his first goal in three weeks. The win also moved the Canadiens into a ninth-place tie in the East with the Bruins and Thrashers.
Also in action at home Saturday afternoon, the Flyers conceded the top spot in the Atlantic Division to the New York Rangers, who beat Philadelphia 4-3 in overtime. Ken Hitchcock’s troops, who remain without the services of Peter Forsberg, hold one the best road records in the league, at 17-6-3.
Today’s matchup is the third of four between the Canadiens and Flyers this season. Montreal, looking to inch closer to its first season series sweep over Philadelphia since 1976-77, has taken the first two so far. The most recent meeting on Jan. 25 resulted in a career night for Jan Bulis, who notched four goals in the Canadiens’ 5-3 win in Philadelphia.
Defense gets offensive: Saturday against the Bruins, Canadiens defensemen were responsible for both goals; Andrei Markov potted his eighth while Sheldon Souray lit the lamp for the fourth time this season with his empty-netter. It marked the fifth time this season that Canadiens blueliners have scored twice in a game. The club has won all five games.
Men of few shots: For the 30th time this season, the Canadiens were outshot, but they still managed to pick up their 26th and 27th points in those circumstances, with a 12-15-3 record. Montreal is 28th in the league in total shots, ahead of Columbus and Minnesota. Michael Ryder, who leads the team with 20 goals, is the only Canadiens player to have passed the 100-shot mark, with 146 thus far. He might not be alone come the end of the day as Richard Zednik and Alex Kovalev each have 99 shots in 2005-06.
In the two games he's played against the Flyers this season, Tomas Plekanec has collected three assists.
Yup gotta agree with you heet on that one, the flyers are wounded and the Habs need to take advantage of the situation. come on guys lets go for two in a row, and the steelers to win 21 - 14
Have a good feeling about this game .... I'll predict that Huet lets a few in (2-3), but the habs respond with 5 of their own (Kovi, Ryder, Markov, Bulis and Plecki)
Today's game is on TSN, so at least I'll get to see one game this weekend.
Since we're into true confessions these days, I will admit that I don't find pencil-necked geek Pierre McGuire as annoying as I used to. His "monster", shouting and non-stop gabbing style still annoys me to no end, but I do agree with what he says most of the time. There, I said it.

I agree Nil....I find Pierre very annyoing, but what he says is usually right on. I notice he's on the NBC broadcasts now on saturday afternoons, so he must be doing something right.... At least hes better than Leafs man Harry Neale who knows nothing that isnt Toronto related. For example, last Saturday night when the leafs played the habs...he made a comment about the leafs came before with the sabres and said hasek played for the sabres.....maybe it was a mind lapse, but still not acceptable on a national broadcast. I find him much more annoying than Pierre.

I noticed that comment as well. You think he'd have known better with the Leafs getting creamed by the Sens so many times this year.

Great first period by the boys. The score flatters Phillie. Exception: Zednik - he looks lost out there.
Koivu could have had about five goals with all his chances! Great hustle by Habs, causing penalties by Phillie. Nice shot by Ryder; good to see him score again.
Keep it up, Boys!

Of course listening to P Mcguire on TSN it was like ya Habs fans you are winning, but remember there are lots of injuries to the Flyers. Who cares the Habs are making a good effort buy the Richards Character is a dirty player. Good for Huet. Hey Mario keep up the insider stuff I like it and the good luck too
