So Edmonton has made it known it is looking for a defenseman, a forward, and a draft pick. If Montreal is in the running, who would they offer? Souray for D, and whick forward: Ryder? Higgins? Seriously, I can't see Gainey matching up with other team's offers.

I am scouring the web and rumour mill has Montreal pursuing UFA, Detroit's Brendan Shanahan. If you ask me, it's probably a ploy by his agent to drive up his asking price. I still don't believe Montreal can land a top notch free-agent. And it's not because GM Gainey isn't trying.
