Montreal needs a number 1 center and assign Saku to number 2 center. They also need an offensive defenseman (just see what Pronger did with Edmonton last this year). They also need to add depth on defense and at the center position. They have a few prospects at the center position but most...

So Edmonton has made it known it is looking for a defenseman, a forward, and a draft pick. If Montreal is in the running, who would they offer? Souray for D, and whick forward: Ryder? Higgins? Seriously, I can't see Gainey matching up with other team's offers.

5 yrs for $22.5 million.....he should be a Hab!!! Bob must be kidding And-o!?!?!? Arnott is a steal at $4.5 million per (although 5 years is a touch long)!!!

With Patrick Lalime leaving, if they can't pick up a goalie on the free agent market, a trade with them would be good. If I was a GM, here is what I would offer: To St.Louis: David Aebisher, Richard Zednik, Mike Ribeiro To: Keith Tkachuk

It would be a real change along the walls of the Bell Centre if Gainey could sign Shanahan & Guerin. Two leaders, who could show the young guys (Ryder, Higgins etc.) what it takes along the walls to win the battles. I think Guerin will have a rebound season wherever he goes. Sh...

I am scouring the web and rumour mill has Montreal pursuing UFA, Detroit's Brendan Shanahan. If you ask me, it's probably a ploy by his agent to drive up his asking price. I still don't believe Montreal can land a top notch free-agent. And it's not because GM Gainey isn't trying.

Ando · Ando

PLEASE, since you are closer to "the know" than anyone, seek clarification about how exactly the process of seeking UFA's usually unfolds! In other words, if a GM is looking to sign a guy like Arnott (just for example) do they offer a specific dollar amount with a time lim...

It seems all this talk of it being hard to bring in free agents is true, does it seem that we are now to forever be an 8th place team? Gainey is a good GM who has the ability to bring in talent, but with the exception of Kovalev, he has not signed one decent player. It is such a shame t...

Gainey probably can't multitask so he'll focus his energy on one free agent. If that doesn't pan out then we'll end up with no added talent.
