What Montreal Needs
(Preview)
Montreal needs a number 1 center and assign Saku to number 2 center. They also need an offensive defenseman (just see what Pronger did with Edmonton last this year). They also need to add depth on defense and at the center position. They have a few prospects at the center position but most...

Is Montreal in the Pronger sweepstakes?
(Preview)
So Edmonton has made it known it is looking for a defenseman, a forward, and a draft pick.
If Montreal is in the running, who would they offer? Souray for D, and whick forward: Ryder? Higgins?
Seriously, I can't see Gainey matching up with other team's offers.

St.Louis needs a goalie
(Preview)
With Patrick Lalime leaving, if they can't pick up a goalie on the free agent market, a trade with them would be good. If I was a GM, here is what I would offer:
To St.Louis: David Aebisher, Richard Zednik, Mike Ribeiro
To: Keith Tkachuk

Other Reasons PLayers have not signed in Montreal
(Preview)
THe top ten reasons that players will not play in Montreal:
Players do not like the color of the habs uniform
A strong dislike for Poutine
Cover charge too high at Chez Paris
Too cold (Calgary is much warmer in January)
Allergic to fur on Youpi!
Scared to death of being sent down and havin...

Imagine Shananhan & Guerin
(Preview)
It would be a real change along the walls of the Bell Centre if Gainey could sign Shanahan & Guerin. Two leaders, who could show the young guys (Ryder, Higgins etc.) what it takes along the walls to win the battles.
I think Guerin will have a rebound season wherever he goes. Sh...

Have a good July guys! AB is taking his family for a three wk. holiday. Hopefully when I get back, we'll have a new player or two to talk about!

Brendan Shanahan on Gainey's radar?
(Preview)
I am scouring the web and rumour mill has Montreal pursuing UFA, Detroit's Brendan Shanahan.
If you ask me, it's probably a ploy by his agent to drive up his asking price.
I still don't believe Montreal can land a top notch free-agent. And it's not because GM Gainey isn't trying.

Hey Mario...

PLEASE, since you are closer to "the know" than anyone, seek clarification about how exactly the process of seeking UFA's usually unfolds!
In other words, if a GM is looking to sign a guy like Arnott (just for example) do they offer a specific dollar amount with a time lim...

Are we to remain an 8th place team?
(Preview)
It seems all this talk of it being hard to bring in free agents is true, does it seem that we are now to forever be an 8th place team? Gainey is a good GM who has the ability to bring in talent, but with the exception of Kovalev, he has not signed one decent player. It is such a shame t...

Jay Mckee - A steal for the Blues
(Preview)
I'm surprised he only got 4years/$16 million - - - Montreal should have let Bouillion go, and used that money towards McKee. The D partners could have looked like this:
Rivet-McKee
Souray-Markov
Dandeneault-Komisarek
I hope Gainey doesn't overpay for Arnott, because he's...

Well, like usual, bigger is better for them. Huge D and HUGE contracts. They have half of their pay-roll spent on their D-corps and don't have a #1 amongst them and at least 3 of them are pylons. Their D will score and they will hurt you if they can catch you, but Raycroft better have shaken off his funk beca...
