Blake and Sakic to become free agency
(Preview)
Colorado has declined the option for next year. Which means unless they resign next year they'll both be free agents (with the new CBA you can only start re-negotiating after January). It's kind off interesting to see how things are working themselves out in the new CBA.

Copyright law on Normies "nuff said"
(Preview)
I REALLY think that HIS trademark saying is being over used...and not by normie. So, from now on when the "nuff said" quote is used you must send a beer or normies choice to him to pay him back. This might slow the whole "nuff said" thing down before it gets out of hand.
NUFF SAID!!...

Only caught the third period...............
(Preview)
.................. and I must say:
(a) The Habs were flying, even Ribeiro
(b) Kovalev was absolutely spectacular
(c) Theodore had a very good period, with a game-saving stop at 3-3
(d) The Habs scored two blue-collar goals - nothing fancy, just shoot, jam the net, and get the rebounds

Game breakdown from other board
(Preview)
You have to wonder if the refs are ever going to be able to find some consistency. On the one hand, they call Ribeiro when the opponent skates over his stick. Then you get a flying elbow to the head of Sundstrom when he wasn't even near the puck, and somehow that's left alone. You know, when they said this se...

Thoughts on CJ...
(Preview)
I think that CJ is successfully fulfilling the requirements of one of the most difficult jobs in all sports so far...and is growing into the role more with each passing week.
Consider that he is leftover from the reign of a previous GM...and consider the credibility of his current boss...an...

3 habs make Team Canada try-out list
(Preview)
Theo
Souray
Ryder
These three cracked the list. I think the most probably would be souray if he steps it up. Theo will be 3rd to Brodeur and Luongo.

One down...Next!!
(Preview)
Dags is gone. Now after watching the second period it is evident. Ribero should be gone. He is slow, soft, and useless. I wish it was not so but that is reality. How about moving Higgins into center with plek and Ryder? Ribero can hop into Yuppie's outfit...
also, I did not agree with alot of anti...

Whoa back with the Theo bashing...
(Preview)
Many seem ready to jump all over Theo, but let's take a step back and be a little more objective.
First of all, I love Souray, but he's been very disinterested to say the least. Second, with the "new" NHL, many goaltenders are struggling out of the gate - can we collectively say Brodeur??? ...

Bravo CJ…kudos…and concerns
(Preview)
Bravo CJ…for recognizing (and conceding) that Dags is just plain useless…and it was nice to see seven defensemen dressed instead…especially given the flexibility of the group in general.
And Bravo CJ…for your awesome bench management in the third period – spot playing your bes...

Perezhogin trying to move on in Montreal
(Preview)
When does a young man step out of the shadow of his past? When does a single, isolated moment of brutality cease being his constant companion? Is it in the moment when he skates in alone, scoring his first NHL goal on a highlight-reel breakaway? Or does it take more for Alexander Perezhogin to free himse...

retired numbers
(Preview)
does anyone know if there are anymore players' numbers to be retired before the 100th anniversary?
The numbers retired were great HABS but I was surprised that 19 was not among them.
would love to see 23 hanging in the rafters as well.

benchmark for a good Habs Team
(Preview)
When I see Montreal winning games as a team and Theodore doesn't play a big role, that's a sign that the Habs have a good team. He's part of the club and makes the big saves when they need him, but he doesn't win the game himself. We have to wait and see after 40 games.
Theodore also rem...

The team really turned it around. Ribs and Theo put in a hell of an effort after the first 10 mins. Boston fell apart.

The Official Bos vs Mtl Oct 18 thread
(Preview)
Post prediction, game notes and pre-game comments. Once the game starts, I'll close the thread and open a new one to discuss the game.
Lines should be the same as the end of Saturday night's game, with Dags on the 4th and Plekanec (pronouced Plekaness) on the 2nd I believe. Theo to start...

Dagenais
(Preview)
Rumour has it that Dagenais has seen his last game as a Canadien. Pleckanic is taking his place on the number 2 line tomorrow and both CJ and Gainey have lost patience with him. CJ was on TSN saying that "Pierre is a goal scorer and is not scoring. When you take that aspect away from his game it hurts". No kid...

(Preview)
Ok- I have sat and ready the Koivu bashing long enough. ENOUGH ALREADY! He had absolutely nothing to do with Lindors getting two goals last night. Bonk, who some claim to be our much needed big center, was on the ice for the winnimg goal. Pretty tough for Koivu to do anything about it while taking a sip of w...

Phoenix & Montreal could be trading partners made in heaven right now…
(Preview)
Phoenix is 2-4-1 and sinking fast…and they really need someone to centre their second line (cough…Ribeiro…cough)…while we could use a talent upgrade on defense (Paul Mara would make And-o happy).
Defenseman Denis Gauthier is hurt and won’t return for 1 month (TSN) and although...

Those of you worried about our goaltending.

Really shouldnt be all that worrieds. Goals are up HUGE this year in the NHL. And Montreal is currently sitting in 8th for team goaltending. Pretty damn good if you ask me, especially considering the boost of goals being scored this year. Theo has been letting in some bad goals but he STILL has been winn...

The "new" NHL

Admittadly I haven't seen any games yet this season but I have caught most of the Canadiens action on CJAD. While the games do seem exciting all this talk about the new ice age and that certain types of players are redundant brings a smile to my face. Fast, free flowing, high-scoring hockey mig...

I know the Bruins finally signed Nic Boynton (very good defenseman) I would not mind having him on the Habs. Not sure of Thornton is playing and I do believe Zamanof is still out(thats good news). With that said, I posted before the Leafs game that we need to do well in the homestand. Well one down 3 to go. I...
