Many seem ready to jump all over Theo, but let's take a step back and be a little more objective.
First of all, I love Souray, but he's been very disinterested to say the least. Second, with the "new" NHL, many goaltenders are struggling out of the gate - can we collectively say Brodeur??? Third, it seems pretty obvious that there needs to be some line shakeups - which is why we do it early in the season! Let's keep the boo-birds at bay for now, shall we? It's October folks, not January!!!!
I hate to lose to the Leafs, and the double whammy was Lindros (never been a favourite of mine to say the least) scoring twice. HOWEVER, Theo was so bloody screened on the second goal that NO goalie would have had a chance.
Let's let our boys get it figured out, and I do believe that they will. Including Theo.
I was just waiting for you to sat that Theo was cute so he deserves a chance. I agree that it's early and adjustments are still pending. Moving Plekanessss to the 2nd line is a great start. Maybe Bonks up to the second after the homestand if RIbs doesn't get it together, although our 3rd line makes a good 2nd like also.

As my friend Normie would say....'nuff said.
You tell'em, Girl! I was wondering how long it would take for you to jump to Theo's defense, and your arguments make more logical sense than the "he's cute" defense that Figaro espouses. I still say he's played lousy this year so far, including the Toronto game, but I'm ready to cut him some slack and give him a bit of time to get used to the new equipment and new rules.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and... conform. He's let in a few soft goals, but it's not like he's been drunk on the ice. And there are definitely some other players that have to start working harder (Souray). It's still October, Zednick is not playing so the final lines aren't set, and I think the guys look pretty sharp overall. Our rookies look great. All in all, I think things look good.
Habgirl I agree on Souray ,everyone will tell you that there is no one on this board that has criticized Souray more than I have. As far as Theo I have been just as critical. Af far as I am concerned the new NHL has nothing to do with his lousy play. He gives up rebounds and we pay the price. There are other goalies doing quite well with the new system. I just think Theo is not being consistent just like Souray. These two characters played last year too. Hey, maybe they are tired and bored????? But just for you, I will let out the slack. I hope very soon you can say 'HEY DAVIDB I TOLD YOU SO"
theo sure stood on his head to make some of those saves in the third to keep the lead for the habs. although he didn't play spectacular in the first, the goal in the second wasn't his fault and he was spectacular in the third!!!!
give him a break, at least tonight....he earned it!
At the price that's being paid for him, that 3rd period should be the norm, not some freakish exception that gets everyone thinking he's made a return to form.
By the way he grovels on the ground, you'd think that he'd lost a contact lens or something.
Let's hope that it's the beginning of something great, 'cuz no one is going to take him off our hands anytime soon. (paging Mr. Yashin, Mr. Yashin to the blue courtesy phone)
Really now, Theo hasn't been that bad. Just look at our record and tell me that he hasn't been effective because if both Theo and our offense and defense have been ineffective every game then what's that say about the rest of the teams.
Unless CJ plans one giving Danis a certain % of the games (say 1 in 4) then I think Theo will be in for at least the next 2 at home.
This is all I will say about Theo for awhile..so read it and weep. Yes our record is 5-2. I thought he played well in the 2nd and 3rd periods. Unfortunately with big contracts come big expectations. Whether that is fair or not it is fact. Theo has admitted himself that he is not playing well. Fortunately this year we have a team that can put the puck in the net. In past years, being down 2 goals that early would have been lethal.
I see him not comfortable out there at all. His timing is off (he is going down way too early) and this also causes big rebounds. However, I give him credit for bouncing back last night. That is a sign of a good goalie. I am not blaming, nor have I ever, blamed losses solely on Theo. I am a goalie myself and it is a team game. But you could SEE early in the third when he made a key save how that lifted the team. All he needs to do is get consistent. Raycroft was consistent lats night. Belfour was consistent Saturday night. Believe it or not I am rooting for the kid. We need him.
