Phoenix & Montreal could be trading partners made in heaven right now…

Phoenix is 2-4-1 and sinking fast…and they really need someone to centre their second line (cough…Ribeiro…cough)…while we could use a talent upgrade on defense (Paul Mara would make And-o happy).

Defenseman Denis Gauthier is hurt and won’t return for 1 month (TSN) and although Phoenix has Brad Ference in their minor league system will they risk losing him on waivers by calling him up? (I wonder if offering Hainsey would prevent someone from having to clear waivers in the desert?)

Also, (centre) Kolanos and (left wing) Jeff Taffe are in #99’s doghouse and either one could likely be had for a bag of pucks (or Pierre Dagenais).  Surely…anything would be an upgrade in this slot!!!

Plus, I think Phoenix has a few guys that could excel with a change of venue (eg.  David Tanabe…good point PP guy).  And, Petr Nedved and Kovy were teammates in NY...and Nedved can be an effective centre...although Nedved is not worth much in my opinion!

Why don't you get on the phone and call 'em up.  I think we got something here.  If they really want to switch player spare parts for player broken parts, I say go for it.  I'm all for Ference or Gauthier.

I don't think either trade will help either team much.  There's not much that I like in Phoenix, If I had to I'd stick with our players. Not much of an upgrade if you ask me.

The one guy they have that I would be truly interested in is Derek Morris.  But I don't see them trading him.

Lets not forget that Kovy didn't play well in New York, and he doesn't seem to reunite well with any of his former linemates. Lets not forget he once played on the same line as Sundstrom in New York!
