if you check the stats, it says that ryder has only scored 2 goals so far, but , this isn't true or is it? he scored the first goal of the season for the habs(1 goal), he scored in the shoot-out,the winner, so that one should count(2 goal) and he scored last night against philly( 3 goal) sound right?

Time to send Downey to the farm and call up Kotitsyn. Being on the fourth line isn't the problem with Lats. It's the linemates. We could have a much better balance attack with this small roster change. Murray could be the designated tough guy when he's needed against a certain team.

Gainey seems to be testing things out for a major shakeup on defense.
Many of our guys will be UFAs at the end of this year (Rivet, Souray, Markov, and now Niinimaa), and Komisarek is an RFA. Streit, Bouillon and (I think) Dandenault are the only long-term contracts, and they are relatively cheap.
