Thanks, MC, it was real nice of you to say so. Funny thing is that I felt really at home in Montreal. It might have been the snow and freezing cold or the much talked about european "feel"...I dunno. My french isn't that great either. Nevertheless I'm sure with so many Gohabers in attendence our guys will roll over the hapless Avalanche!

(We'll all miss ya )

lol.... I can't wait to join the Boo birds when Theo gets on the ice. The Bell centre will be electric that night..... I'm so excited.

BTW ~ we should make posters or banners to bring with slogans, or spell out "Gohabs Reunion" or something insane..... I was totally thinking about making' a "Mrs. Yoopie" costume to fashion for the game .... but I'm not sure if that's what I wanna wear..... LOL

Johab- may I suggest a Friday night get together at a good sports bar (mario knows the good ones). We can watch a game that night on the telly and set sail with the Captain. I have already booked my flight and we will be getting in Friday at noon.

Do you know where you & yours will be stayin'? I'm trying to get plans together to stay at the same place as other gohabbers. I would like to make the reservations A.S.A.P.

You can post the info or PM it to me.... either way... I'd appreciate it

This is from Mario......

"Concerning hotels in Montreal, the hotels I would recommend (all within walking distance from the Bell Centre, are Marriott (where the visiting players stay), The Fairmont Queen Elizabeth, or the Delta Centre Ville Montreal."

Well then lets put you in charge of room rate negotiations lol. You can check around and tell them we will be booking up to 15 rooms or so and see what kind of rate you can get. Then you can post the choice as the "ofiicial Hotel of Gohabs Reunion #2 lol

The Delta seems to be the most for your money so far.... I'll contact them & see what "price break" they are willing to give us.

..... here is the email I've sent to them.....

Hi,
I am a member of a Montreal Canadiens fan forum located on "gohabs.com". We are planning our 2nd GoHabs reunion over the October 20-22 weekend 2006.
We were just wondering.... if we were to book all of our members @ your hotel (10-15 rooms @ this point) would you be able to give us a group discount/rate?

Thanks kindly, your prompt attention & reply is appreciated.

(quick, sweet & to the point!) lol

Yeah, The FAIRMONT, that's the one I meant, if you all could get in there it would be great, Mario's friend Chris is connected with all the hotels, so he can probably put something together. Champs is a great sports bar, though I found it somewhat confusing with four hockey games and portugese soccer on at the same time.

I have stayed at the Marriott several times and would highly recommend it.  I forget what I paid for rooms, but considering the location - literally across the  street from the Bell Centre - I remember it being a deal.

For what it's worth........

I'm leavin' the hotel wheelin' & dealin' to Mario. I think (with a group rate) he'll be able to get us a better deal.

It would be nice to all stay in the same hotel..... it would make meeting up impossibly easy

Was checking out hotels this morning, and Delta seems to be just as nice as the Marriott, albeit a little further from the Bell Centre...and a little cheaper.  MC, have you heard back from them regarding group rates?

On a further note, checking our schedule this morning, the Laffs are in town on the following Saturday - anybody going to that one?  I am thinking of making a week of it and giving myself an early Christmas present - Avs, Sabres, Leafs in 7 days!!!  If I am coming all that way I might as well blow the bank!

Any other west coasters planning on joining me for this trip?  Normie, Mrs. Hab, West Coast Habs fan et all, where are y'all?

Just got back from the cottage and read this post, would be very interested.  $100 range is great but would need to know as early as possible.  Count me in !!!!!!!!!! Just one note, when I stay in Montreal I stay at the Holiday-Inn Midtown on Sherbrooke, excellent place, very close to the underground Shopping Mall for MC girl and the rest the lovely ladies on this board.  Very short cab ride to the rink.  For the men its very close to Ste. Catherines street where the 'Ballets' are.  There is an excellent restaurant for breakfast there,  and nice little pub called 'the Aces'.  Also has Pool and work out room.

YEs it is a great Hotel, but that is also where we had our prom this past year...and yeah...if you ready my post a while back, you'd know what happened. Although then again i wasnt caught doing anything bad so im sure i could go back. Really nice hotel and yeah, in a decent area too.

A cab ride isn't really needed. A walk downtown in october is really nice, and it won't take long, and save you 10 bucks there, 10 bucks back.

We've decided to travel by train & have booked our tickets. rwp2le drives like a lunatic due to the fact he drove through T.O. traffic for 4 years & picked up some very aggressive habits. I'd love to get to the game in one peice & still married so I brought up the train & he said "SURE!" ... (that was only after I told him they have a bar car & he could drink his way there. )

...we are locked & loaded ... now on to the tickets & hotel...

I'm waitin' to hear back from Super Mario to see if he is reserving all our tickets so we'll be sitting together or if it's everyone for themselves? & seeing if there will be a hotel discount......

Let's do a head count so Mario has an approx. amount to research costs for.

If you could, please post this info....

WHO IS GOING? (i.e. rwp2le & myself = 2)

HOW MANY TICKETS TO THE GAME ARE NEEDED? (i.e. 2)

DO YOU NEED A HOTEL ROOM? (i.e. yes)

IF YOU DO NEED A HOTEL ROOM, HOW MANY WILL BE IN EACH ROOM? (i.e. 2)

HOW MANY ROOMS & WHAT TYPE WILL BE NEEDED? (i.e. 1 room queen or king bed)
