Baseball?? A little off topic.....
(Preview)
So Olympic hockey is over, just waiting until tuesday night to see what the habs will do for the rest of the way to push towards the playoffs. While were waiting, who here is a baseball fan, and more importantly who is a Jays fan. The reason why i bring this up is for the first time probably sin...

From: www.nhl.com
TORONTO/NEW YORK - At the recent National Hockey League General Managers' Meeting, two procedural changes were recommended with respect to the measurement of sticks prior to the shootout and pucks shot out of play from the defensive zone. These changes will be in effect b...

Barnaby
(Preview)
A Chicago newspaper reports that sevral Black Hawks players including Matthew Barnaby are on the block. Now Barnaby is no saviour, we all know that but he has grit and heart and would wear the CH with pride. Maybe put him on the same line as Begin and Downey. That would definately wake up the team up durin...

Do we really Expect Swedish Players to Play tonite?

Apparently these are the dogs at the Stockholm SPCA after the big win Sunday. Can we really expect the players to be in shape to play tonite?

This special treatment for Saku is just disgusting!
(

(Preview)
Can you just imagine the outrage around here if any other player besides Saku requested time-off under any similar circumstances for being tired??? Didn't Saku know the circumstances before heading off to Italy?
And-o just can't believe the nerve of this guy...and I'm actu...

Plekanec On First Line
(Preview)
With rumours of Saks having the night off against the Isles, does Plekanec replace him on the first line with Higs & Ryder? What if the Habs get the W and the line produces? In any case, it will be intersting to see how BG will juggle with the lines...

Call for Saku Moratorium
(Preview)
I sense that the Great Saku Debate, which I've been staying out of lately, is rapidly losing steam, and not getting any less personal, to make matters worse.
So how about a moratorium on Saku-related posts? I was going to suggest a month, but that would never work (we'd be...

Trade deadline & Saku
(Preview)
I think we should take a run at Roloson from Minny. He can split duty with Huet (start the guy with the hot hand), and both goalies are capable of going on "hot streaks". With the condensed schedule from now until the end of the year, Huet is going to need a rest. No offense to Yann Danis...

Ok..in the spirit of getting off the Koivu thing (and yes I am sick of it too), let's discuss what we need to get or do down the stretch. The way I see it, we are ion tough for the 8th spot with Atlanta, Toronto, and Boston. The team that worries me the most is Atlanta. They could be the spoiler. They are finall...

Further to Johnny's post regarding diappointment this season and to help put things in perspective, I am copying and pasting an email I received from CJ last Sept on the eve of training camp (posted with his permission). Essentially gives you his outlook on the season:

Koivu Favourite Colour
(Preview)
I understand Saku Koivu's favourite colour is blue.
Yes, really, you heard it here first. And I'll go on record to say I support him on that choice, and feel it in no way impedes his ability to be a good captain. Kovalev's vafourite colour is fuschia; in my opinion they should both ...

Ribs recent comments on Saku's leadership
(

From a recent interview, here's what was asked, and below is Ribs response.

Will Koivu pay price from Games?
(Preview)
Come back with me, if you can, to the moments before the first of the last three regular-season games of the 2001-02 season. The noise had erupted even before the first of the Canadiens had stepped onto the ice and grew and grew as one player followed another. Now there was no longer a noise in what was t...

stats from Jan-Feb
(Preview)
First two months of 2006 (19 games). Here are the stats.
Warning: some are depressing.
For certain Habs (Koivu, Ribeiro and Ryder maybe, but especially ZEDNIK, worst stretch in years). For Bonk (this is how bad he's been!) this is his best stretch of the season.
On the upside:
Bulis, bes...

(Preview)
I think the problem is that all of us agree that most of the team is pretty crappy this year. There are a few standouts like Huet, Markov, Pleks and Higgins. When I say standouts, I mean better than expected. Other than that the team is average or below average, below average I can pinpoint Ribs, Theo and K...

After all the talk, it's maybe obvious why Gainey has Kovy not playing with Saks. Ribs with Kovy seems to be working! Is it because Ribs hates Kovy a little less than Saks hates Kovy? Gainey is sticking Kovy with who he thinks hates him less

Fragile Sticks

Is it only me or is anyone else fed up of seeing sticks breaking like morbid toothpicks? How annoying has it become to see a player in the slot recieve a perfect pass only to break his stick? What are these sticks made of? Has Canada run out of trees?

Koivu Asks For the Night Off
(

(Preview)
According to the Team 990, Saku Koivu has called Bob Gainey and asked for the night off when they play New York tomorrow night. But hey, he is not alone, all Swedish players on the Red Wings (I think there are 6) will not be playing tomorrow night because they are attending a celebration in Sweden. Detroi...

Has Gainey reacted to this Ribs comment or did anyone hear of anything further to this?
Again, Gainey may let it stand because he can't trade Ribs! If it's a motivator than it may help us get into the playoffs! The comment should of came from Gainey not Ribs.

Happy To See You Too!
(Preview)
Journalist report that Kovalev and Saks hardly looked at each other during the traditional hand shake at the at end of the semi-final game. Sure looks like it in this photo. Even if Kovy is disappointed...this is odd; they seem like 2 complete strangers, let alone, teamates.
