I had no idea that this kid suffers from severe chronic back pain! In fact, Joe has apparently considered retirement (imagine that at his age) as a last resort solution. As much as we all hate "Da Broons", it is a shame. These things are apparently n...

Ryder - Koivu - Perez (Put Kovalev away from Koivu - both of them like to pass) Bulis - Plekanec - Kovalev (Bulis can be a sleeper 20 goal scorer this year for us) Sunstrom - Bonk - Higgins (Reward Higgins he has been playing well and good defensively) Dags - Ribiero - Begin (Let Begin show Dag...

If I were to trade a potential long term mistake like Theo if he flops for the first 40 games or so, I would consider Pens. They are in need of an established goalie. Theo for Marc-Andre Fluery and Pallfy or Tarnstrom. Then play Danis and Fluery evenly until one outshines the other for num...

I know someone had posted earlier about the jerseys that are being retired by 2009. As a kid I watched in amazement the style Ken Dryden played. Remember Bobby Hull coming down the wing and taking a slap shot. Dryden would put out his glove and lift his left leg up to meet the glove. What about his numbers&...

For those that assume Rangers won't make playoffs, think again! They have a good mix of veterens and rookies. Actually if you go through their lineup, they have more skill than us up front for sure with guys like Straka, Rucinsky, Jager and Nylander. With the new rules in effect these guys are cr...

I keep hearing once Zed comes back, it will solve all Habs problems and will have four strong lines? Does that mean we have no depth, if one player is hurt and he's the only answer? Why then did Gainey give away Ward and Hossa? I would of loved to see Ward or even Hossa on our second l...

That JoHab is out there waiting to post a " I told you so" message? By that I mean he is a fan of Theodore so waiting for that one game that he plays like an "elite" goalie. Unfortunately as Barry33 puts so well, its all about consistency when we talk about elite goalies. So if I am right, wait 4 " elite"...

Okay, I don't like losing to the Leafs (like what have they done in the last 35 years?). I HATE losing to boston. Ottawa worries me lots. But what frightens me beyond anything posed by any of those teams is what's happened in past years -- the NHL has vowed to crack down on obstruction. It work...

The two jersey to be retired this year are no 12 and no 5. This was for Cournoyer, Moore and Geoffrion. I think Guy Lapointe also wore no 5, so by default this includes him as well.

There's good news and there's bad news with this one. The bad news is obvious - we lost to the Toronto Maple Leafs and they deserved the win, being the better team tonight. The good news, however, is that we didn't seem to be mentally prepared for the game and there were a lot of silly mistakes that really k...

. . . and his rebounds are driving me crazy. Giving up rebound after rebound is a recipe for a loss. Damn! 3-2 Leafs with 7 left . . .

It's been an interesting week in Habland; two losses to only one win has some fans getting a little antsy. The mailbag this week had a lot to say about the goaltending situation as well as the second line. There was also a comment about last week's column wondering why I focused so much on Dagenais. Simpl...

I was scrolling down the NHL goalie stats. Amazingly enough, the Habs were in eighth place overall in GAA - not too shabby! However, remove Danis' shutout, and they'd be in 17th place. I'm a fan of Theodore, but I have to admit he's playing well below his potential so far. But the y...

I see at the bottom of the Board that Figaro and Johab are moderators (in addition to Mario, bien sur). What does this mean exactly? I'm appreciative that Figaro and Johab, two excellent Board contributors - two of the best, IMHO - are helping with the Board adminstration, but wha...

According to the statistics which don't lie the weak Habs players to date are Souray, Ribs, Dags, Ryder and Theo. Kovy, Sak, Pleks, Rivet, Markov, Begin have been the strongest so far. We lost 2 games so far which could've easily have been won so we aren't doing that badly. If the 5 players ca...

All of the talk about S. Koivu and J. Theodore not playing well, wont help a thing because with the cap system that's in place there is very little room on any team to make changes. The likes of S. Koivu and J. Theodore having bad games, well we just have to get use to it and hope they can play out of it. With the...

This my first post, but I've checked the chat room on a regular basis, and I just want to know one thing: does any body use it? I checked just now after the Leaf game, and no one was on it!! The key to a great team is the way the lines a configured. You need a great first scoring line; a really good second scoring line; a solid schecking line with an offensive upside; and a grind line. Pretty much every team in the NHL has a great first line( Atlanda has Hossa, Bondra, that Ilya guy). That is...

To quell the discussion regarding Lindros being matched up against Saku - and And-o's (do you still have a hyphen in your name?) negativity towards Koivu, I looked up the play-by-play for the game on NHL.com, and saw that the following players were on the ice for Lindros' two goals: 1. Bulis,...

Watching to the game on SRC (French CBC) last night, the announcers (it's actually a feed from RDS; I don't know what happened to the old SRC crew) pronounced these two guys as follows: Ple-ka-NECKS and Pe-re-ZHO-gin ("ZH" being pronounced like the "si" in "vision") They made a point of st...

When I first started to watch hockey, Dryden, Cheevers, Vilimure, Vachon ,Giacamon and the list goes on and on.
