All is not lost yet!
(Preview)
Credit Carolina's defense for stepping their game up tenfold!
A few things obviously need "tweaking" before Sunday in Raleigh;
1) Dressing seven defensemen was not a great idea (live and learn I guess)
2) Time for a trip to the proverbial woodshed for Justin "High-Stick" Willi...

What Doesn't Work Must be Changed at This Point
(Preview)
Obviously, we are short a centerman...The Bonk experiment should be dropped. He's valuable in other facets but he's totally not the right player to center Higgins and Ryder. There is absolutley no chemistry betwwen them. The time has come not be conservative any longer.
I know that Barry is distu...

Kovalev the Magician
(Preview)
Alex Kovalev often called a magician for being a wizard with the puck. Sure he has great moves and he is the most skilled player, and he is the most dangerous player. But today I call Alex a magician not because of his great moves but for his disappearing act. This guy played great for the first two games...

Huet - back to reality
(Preview)
Well it was good while it lasted but it seems that the dream run for Huet is coming to an end. He has played solid in the last two games but not spectacular. We as fans might be expecting too much of the guy. He has been a career backup and had a great 20 or so games for the Habs. Habs fans see a guy play a few good ga...

Why dress Streit?
(Preview)
I know this had little outcome on the game tonight.
But why not dress an Aaron Downey to play a couple of shifts. You know he'd bust his nuts for 30 seconds and throw some big hits.
Remember Darren Langdon's big goal the last time we had hockey in the playoffs.
Streit had 2 shifts, I'd rather h...

Who is the best ref?
(Preview)
I have watched alot of Hab games and without doubt the best ref for the Habs... not best ref... but best for our Habs is Kerry Fraser.
I am sure some of you are aghast - yes this little Napoleon is wildly inconsistant and most likely ref to lose control of a game. And yes Hab fans may want to kill him in the fi...

No Focus tonight
(Preview)
The Habs were clearly mentally not in the game. For the most part, their plays lacked judgement.
Also, they looked timid, afraid to touch the puck with authority.
With no disrespect to Koivu, Gainey has to lead his team through this time of adversity.
Let's wish Koivu the quickest ...

Perezhogin-Plekanec-Zednik
(Preview)
You gotta love the hussle of this line, and how every one of these guys throws there weight around. Perezhogin has really surprised me with his determination in the corners.
Hopefully in Game 5 these guys and can put a few in.

Don Cherry
(Preview)
We all know Don Cherry hates the Habs so when he says something pro Habs it must be pretty obvious. And even he thinks that Brindamours(SP) goal was goaltending interference he even went as fair as saying it was more blatent than the one that was called back. Could this be a case of the ref not wanting to ca...

In Carolina it Bay-gens Again
(Preview)
At the risk of being a hockey antique - I have to say new rules and clamp downs on holding the stick (unless you're a Cane holding the stick to a Hab face!!)
The line-up change needs to include both Begin (please let him be ready) and Downey - no hits are keeping the Cane Dmen fresh and Cam Ward has not been t...

Get Rid of Ribeiro
(Preview)
Let's see what he brings to the table:
Skating= Nope. Slow and choppy.
Hard Shot= LOL...couldn't break an egg.
Toughness= LOL...he's a wangster not the gangster he thinks he is.
Leadership= LOL...the bigger the game, the worse he gets.
Faceoff Ability= I wish I could give this to&...

Line Combos Without Saku
(Preview)
The 3 centre trick didn't work tonight. My proposed lines:

Bottomline...with or without Saku...
(Preview)
...the Habs have totally dominated 5-on-5 play so far in this series!
And-o figures that if the Habs can keep the penalties to a minimum (by skating and not getting lazy) and cash in on one or two of their own PP opportunities than round two is inevitable!!!
Get'r'done!!!

Game breakdown
(Preview)
First off , the team's lines were very unbalanced, we really miss a top center on the team. I thought gainey did not utilize Ryder and higgins nearly enough.
Ribs line was somewhat ineffective, though showed some signs of life. Kovy needs to make better decisions out there.
Defense was somewhat l...

The Road Might Be Good

Without Saku which really hurts, the Habs can play a paitient boring game and capitalize on those long Hurricane passes by picking them off.

I dont want to sound insensitive BUUUUT
(Preview)
There can be some good in this Koivu injury.
DO NOT take this the wrong way. I feel for Saku and sympathize for him greatly, but we have a series the team is STILL in and winning. I hope the little guy gets better and recovers over the summer and can come back stong for us next year.

Sandpaper
(Preview)
I worry we aren't hitting their D enough without Begin.
Any objections to inserting Downey tonight?
(However I'd almost put $50 on 2 to 1 odds that the reason Gainey is being close-mouthed is that it IS Begin tonight)
