Good job by Carb

He lit a fire under Sammy with the little demotions and asking more out of him! He was our best out of a bad bunch tonight. Bigger question...why couldn't he of worked that hard from the start?

I like the Kovy at center experiment between his counterparts. Carb may be lighting a fire under him as well...the ball is in your court...type move was a good one.

Problem is, Carb may have to try these kind of experiments all season to keep these guys going. What a huge challenge for a first year coach!!! So far, good job Carb!

On the other hand....Carb! What was with the pathetic effort tonight? AGAINST THE LAFFS TOO!

Worst thing: our defensemen. Constant giveaways, constant zoning out when there is a play going on. Lack of concentration, confidence, feet not moving, etc....Rivet's worst game of the season. Come to think of it, he's not really in form at all this year. After 2 very consistent seasons it's pretty disappointing. Even Komisarek tonight....I'm shaking my head. And Markov and Ninny - the bad passes (although Markov made his share of huge defensive plays to go with the blunders). Aarrghhhhh.....

Our D's problem seems to be between the ears. Bad plays, bad mistakes, bad penalties.
As for the Ruskie line, I am glad Carb reads my posts, as I have been saying he should do that for days!

Not that I am bragging...

Guys, the problem is our D are slow. When a team shoots the puck in and forechecks, it seems like that's when our D have big time trouble. They get beat to the puck deep and can't stop the cycle. Notice when teams carry the puck in, our forwards backcheck the puck off or shut down the passing lanes. The Habs defense really seem to get exposed when they have to turn and take out the forcheckers which also leads to penalties.

Niinima also trys to make a pass out of nothing rather than shooting it out. A skilled guy with loose marbles.

I miss Dandy and Cube's speed.
