This guy had no points tonight but was a thorn in the Habs side all night. Made good passes and had 10 shots not to mention playing 20 minutes. He looked really good...better if his wingers would of finished his passes.

For 0.5 mil per more, he would of been a way more effective player for us rather than the 3.5 mil per, Gainey is forking out to Sammy. It's not like centers grow on trees. That was Gainey's chance to fill an important position. Savard didn't get 97 points by fluke last season. Sure he played with a great winger but he still had the gift of making good plays and earning those points.

He's on pace to score 50-60 points this season with Boston. He would of got that here along side Kovy and also elevated Kovy's play. Not to mention the load it would of took off Saks. It would of gave us the balance we need. Probably even enough for us to take the next step and make loud noise in the playoffs.

Now we're 9 games in and Carb is still trying to find a way to get Kovy and Sammy going. Sammy is becoming another project type player we don't need at all. I compared the play of each tonight taking into consideration that Sammy got 14 minutes of ice and Savard was way more effective. He's a smart hockey player rather than the dashy little Sammy with no hockey sense.

Savard would of played in Habsville and would of fit the billing just fine! Maybe not to the degree of Arnott but still an important asset to this team.

Again, Sammy at 3.5 per is a waste of money. A smurfy fancy dancy project that is just taken up valuable Cap space. I hated this signing from day one and have a feeling it'll bite Gainey in the ass hard. Just wait and see what happens when Gainey tries to resign important players. He'll be waiving good bye to someone like Rivet or Souray next season while Carb will still be working on Sammy and Kovy.

I dont think playing with any of the Habs wingers would be any different.
