Julien:Deja vu

Given Jersey's slow start, I wonder if Claude Julien feels like it is deja vu all over again. So far this season Brodeur is off to a very slow start, a goals against average of 3.41, and a save percentage of only 889. Similar to Theodore of a year ago. A lot of complaints about the play of the captain (where have we heard that before) Elias who is a minus 5 so far this year. Complaints about a slow moving defence. On a New Jersey board Julien critics are frustrated with his power play lineup, and the fact that the Devils are essentially a one line team.

Many of the posters on the Jersey boards are already stating that if Jersey is treading water around the 500 mark by December Julien should go, to be replaced by Pat Burns. It seems the moree things change, the more they stay the same. A lot of the frustration of Devil fans are similar to Habs fans. Season is less than 10 percent in, and already Julien seems to be on the hot seat.

Yep..it goes with the territory. TH ebiggest problem so far this year has been Brodeur. He has had a very un-brodeur like start, allowing 5 gooals on 2-3 occassions.

Similar to Huet's poor start in Montreal.

The difference is, they don't have the luxury of having two potential number one goalies.

Anyone else surprised to see Elias get the C? Very skilled but not a good two way player. With a coach that pays attention to defensive detail, I'm sure Julien would rather have a different player wear the C. Someone that leads by example.

Like I mentioned before, the new NHL is also crowning the highest paid and skilled players with the C. Not necessarily because they're good leaders.

In fairness to Elias, from what I have heard he is the ultimate team guy in the dressingroom and was a unanimous choice by the players. Apparently he is the one who is alwasy organizing the team get togethers etc.

Barry, I always go to AB for advice on who should be captain. I think you should ignore what CJ says in this case, because AB generally knows a lot about this issue.
