Brier is just trying to fire up his team.  Make them feel good about their start.  He knows that they'll eventually lose a game but he's trying to positively reenforce the behaviours and gameplay with which his team has been successful.  That's what leaders do.  Some do it in "the room" while others do it through the media.

Anyway, I hate Buffalo and can't wait for them to choke on it tonight!
