 Now the real test!

How will we do with the best team in the league?

Not one team has yet to shut down their offense or out score them.

Mark these words...the outcome of this game, and the effort put forth by the Habs WILL determine the future success of this year's team!!!

And-o will have a 'nervous' stomach leading up to this one!

Buffalo has speed, heart, grit, talent and momentum!  Anything less than a total 60 minute effort will result in an UGLY loss!

Carbo needs to seriously lecture the 'D' about giving more...because six goals against is wayyyyyyyy too many versus Buffalo!

We can ALMOST match their speed offensively, but with Dandenault out our defensive speed has dropped HUGE and buffalo will attack us there. Look to see sourays side of the ice to be used the most during the game. We know we can play with them ( we had a 2 goal lead twice earlier this year against them but some bad calls and momentum swings later, we were in shootouts, where a few inches could have meant a win for the habs. We will see, definately in for a good game!

I'm going on record and predicting Komisarek's break-out game.  I think this is an opportunity for he and his defensive corpsmates (look at me inventing new words) to step up and virtually shut down the Sabres.

Habs win 5-2.  Yup, I said 2 goals for the Sabres.

Well this is the team's opportunity to see how they stack up against one of the best in the league. Are we contenders or pretenders? Huet needs to have a stellar game and steal us a few goals.

On canadiens.com, their pregame write-up doesn't list Bonk in the injury section, only Downey Dandenault and Bouillon.  If he is even slightly concerned, I hope he sits and rests.  While the Habs are a better defensive team with him in (IMO), I think it will hurt if he plays at 75% against this high flying Sabres group.

Huet needs to come up with his A game tonight or this one will be over in a hurry. He needs to limit it to 3 GA and at least a .910 save percentage. If he keeps going with his current stats we are done like dinner.

just a small question  but why does it state that higgins is in the lead for points by a rookie on the habs?  isn't this his second year??

We had 'em by the pucks in the first game of the season and there is no reason why we won't compete this time.  It'll take a 1 goal victory and dicipline.  We are ranked higher on PK and PP that BUF.  So we need to watch the 5-on-5.  Buffalo won't go 82-0 and you gotta think the honeymoon is over soon.  Close game tonight.  Montreal takes it because they are on a higher high since the 8-5 win.  4-3 with a late goal to put us up.  Winner to Koivu.

i think its way too early to pick an actual #1 goaltender  but if we had to pick now it would be abby    although he wasn't the strongest in the avs game    but its not even 10 games into the season   i say give them 10 more games and pick the goaltender who comes out on top

Great posts peeps...I think Huet is a litlle better going from post to post, although Aeby is bigger and takes away the majority of the net its a toss up who to start.  One think is known Souray needs to continue to wire away from the point till he cant wire no mre...team also needs to HIT HIT HIT to slow down buffalo's puck control...GO HABS 4-3 Habs in OT

How about in regulation, I could not take OT. Especially against Buffalo so we can give them the first loss. OT to me would be a nail bitter and like game 7 of the Finals. I say we can do it in regulation  Go Habs Go

At this stage I think that Carbo wants to play both guys a bit and not leave either one sitting on the bench for too long. Too be honest, I feel that neither one has turned the league on it's head so far with their performance. Abby did not look sharp Saturday IMHO in spite of not getting alot of help on a few goals. Until Carbo feels that one has really "seized the day" with his performance look for him to continue using both. Dont forget that BG signed Huet to that hefty contract in the off season. Heut gets 3.525 million and Abby gets 1.9. Do not doscount the influence that has on who plays and who sits.

Boy, I forgot about the financial aspects that may play a role in such decisions of who will play

to be fair to abby , barry he was playing well before the colorado game , he was top 3 in save % and gaa. granted its only early . and huet is "only" making 3 mil this year with a cap hit of 2.85 mil . i think we can win tonight if we stay out of the box , how about niinamaa almost guarenteing a win tonight. on the tsn website

I am not saying that is a huge or the only influence Dave, but I think that in this salary cap era it plays a big part. That is why I like coaching Bantam.  Yes red I see I was looking at Samsonov's salary instead of Huets. Still, Gainey made a statement by signing Huet to a big raise. The statement was that he is the number one goalie and we are going to pay him like one.All I need to worry about when I pick my starting goalie is who broke up with his girlfriend last

I like your way you think MC Girl, cause I was thinking the same thing.

Habs win 4 - 2 (with empty net)

Maybe it looks better to have a mistake than to have Latendresse's team leading 0

It was a very weak goal practically from the blue line. I still think Carbo should have stayed with Abby in net............. The Habs are playing great hockey, probably the best that I have seen this season.
