My take on Buffalo game
Permalink Closed

I could not wait for the thread. In the season opener, we had them dead to rights with 4 minutes left. We were up by two, but could not hold on. Tomorrow if we can sustain our PP and play solid like we have when we are shorth handed, we will have a good chance. This team (sabres) are ready for as loss. I think its going to be a solid two way game. Stay out of the Penalty box against this team. Hopefully Kovy and Sammy started something last night. They are a great force to be reckoned with if they get playing well. I am not sure who to go with in net, but carbo may go with Abby  GO  Haabs Go    we win      4-2

I think Carbo should start Huet for this one. He played the first game against these guys and like you said, if it wasn't for the final 5 minutes we would have had it, i think Huet would want to make sure it doesn't happen this time. Plus its not like Abby is coming off of a stellar night saturday. GO HABS GO.

Mark my words. Buffalo will lose tomorrow! We have a great group of guys who can battle with the best of them. And Buffalo's as good as they come. I think if the guys keep up the effort we saw in the 3rd period against Colorado, we should have no problem. Like you said David, we had them beaten until the end of the 3rd. I was at that game, so I remember it really well. Buffalo played great, but I didn't think they were an better than our guys were. I'd like to think the guys want to make up for that game now.

I don't have quite as much confidence as you guys. We are still the underdogs, and odds are they will win, but we are one of the few teams that can skate with them, and if anyone can beat them, we certainly have the right tools to do so.

I don't know Jedah. Sabres are hot, confident and also getting all the bounces. They're on a huge high!

I think our last game will give us momentum for this game so it'll make it exciting but I just can't see us beating them unless everyone of our lines out plays them. A huge task against a hot team.

Still though...someone has to beat them. It's not like they'll win 82 games straight.

Exactly my point AB, and that's what I was thinking when I wrote it. Somebody has to beat them, so why not us? We have all the tools, and I'm expecting a great game.

It will be all about goaltending tonite. Buffalo does not give up many opportunities and they tend to outshoot their opponents constantly. Huet will need to be much more solid than he has been to date and hopefully the second line can put back to back solid games together. If those 2 things occur we should be ok.

Buffalo is indeed fast -- and the scariest part of it is how fast they move the puck around in the offensive zone. This is where the Habs are weakest -- down low -- and if we're not careful we could easily give up 8 goals ourselves Monday night.

If Bonk is out, that will hurt us. He's done a masterful job this year on our best checking line and on penalty kills.

Huet will need to stand on his head for us to win this one, I'm afraid. The Swords are just too good from end to end, and Miller is rock-solid in net, too. And then there's that guy "Itsinagainov" who just amazes me. If we can keep him off the board we might just have a chance.

Should be a great game, though, and I agree that on our best night we do have what it takes to beat 'em.

Fatherhab I remember there were two consecutive years. The first year we lost only 8 and the next we lost 10 can u imagine that today. That was when there were fewer teams. We dominated, I loved those days.

not a chance, those days are over. Buffalo will lose and have more than 20 losses at the end of the year. They are good probably one of thebest, but some teams are not playing the way we know they can yet. Namely ottawa.
