So i got insanely bored at work yesterday so i started to think of what would make the NHL better. After watching last nights game it just proves that Canadian matchups are a great thing. I realize Montreal cannot play Calgary 8 times a year but there should be atleast 2 Matchups a season.So i got to thinking what would make the NHL even better? Sadly teams like Atlanta and Florida arent going to die, so why just just add 2 new expansion teams? The NFL is a 32 team league why not make the NHL the same? Canada has always kept hockey in its heart. Why not reward them? Give us Winnipeg and Quebec! Winnipeg's got the new MTS Centre and id say why not just renovate the old Colisée? So if that fantasy ever came true how could the new league look and how would it work?  adding 2 new teams, I propose the new league would look like this.

The numbers next to each team is how many games Montréal would play against them in a season. Also the season schedule would be reduced to 80 games which is what the players wanted. Well just a dream, really sad how i actually took time to do this but oh well.

As much as I would like to see teams in those cities (I have a Nordiques jersey in memory of the good old rivalry), I don't like the idea of more teams.


Firstly, the hard salary cap ensures near parity, meaning that with 2 more teams, it will take 2 more years for each team to get the cup.


Secondly, there just aren't as many fans in the NHL to go around as there are in the NFL.


Thirdly, look at your divisions, why would Toronto want to play Florida more often than they play Montreal or Ottawa? They wouldn't get as much money and they would have to travel further!


I want to see more Canadian teams, but I think there is a larger chance of the Hamilton Penguins than 32 teams.
