Montreal Canadiens defenceman Mathieu Dandeneault will be out of the line-up indefinetely with a strained left hamstring with a partial tear.

Dandenault suffered the injury Saturday night against Ottawa.

Mark Streit will replace Dandenault in the lineup, beginning with Tuesday night's game against Calgary, and will play alongside Janne Niinamaa.

Craig Rivet, who also left last Saturday's game after being hit in the heel, has indicated that he will be ready to play Tuesday night.

Also, Huet will get a 2nd straight start with Abby playing on Wednesday.

Hate to see Dandenault out, but thank god we got Streit, he's a solid D.

Welcome to the group, Bobo!  Another Maritimer, I see; can't have too many of us around!  (I'm in Halifax).

Kind of figured it looked serious. We're lucky that we didn't lose Rivet with a fractured foot.

Our lack of depth on D may barry us this season.

I'm sure we'll be fine. I think we'll be okay as long as we don't have to go too deep in the depth charts. But, never know, might give some kid the chance to shine. But, ya, glad it isn't both Rivet and Dandy out.

My thought when both Rivet and Dandy went down was "Oh [expletive] here comes Traverse!"

We're carrying 8 defensemen, plus Traverse, if you can call him a defenseman.
I don't think we lack depth. We have some injuries.
Weren't you in the group who was complaining about what we got for Ribeiro?

I sure hope Streit can handle it now that Dandy is gone.  That is a big blow for the Habs but they should recover quickly.

I just thought since I have been reading all the posts for aprox. 2 years that this year I will be posting as well.

My beef was that Gainey should of addressed our defensive needs in the off season. It led to a desperate waiver pick-up and trade.

I wasn't the only one concerned about Niinima's history. We're at the point that our philosophy is Traverse, Streit and Niniima are better than nothing. Beggers can't be choosers. We have a weak defensive core. I'm hoping what we have stays healthy or else we are in deep shat.

Streit will get a chance to play now which is good. You know we can bash Toronto all we want, but their blueline has been pretty desimmated this year and they are still finding ways to win. Injuries can be a blessing. It gives guys a chance to step up and show what they can do. Go habs!
