Carbo should impose some very basic rules for ‘shoot-outs’!
Permalink Closed

And-o is both amazed and appalled that these ‘professionals’ do soooo poorly in what essentially equates to hockey’s version of a ‘free-throw’!  In fact, although scoring between 66%-and-75% of the time on such clear breakaway situations is not too much to ask and expect, simply recording a shot-on-goal should be mandatory!!!

So, Carbo outta impose some very basic ground-rules here…

And-o suggests the following;

1.       Missing the net is not an option!!!  So, any shooter who misses the net (including hitting a goal post) in a shoot-out will attend a mandatory one-hour supervised skate (or ‘exercycle’ session) the following morning with no sticks allowed (all above and beyond what is normally required of the team as a whole).

2.       Any player(s) enjoying less than a 66% success rate in shootouts (minimum of three attempts) will be required to attend biweekly on-ice drill sessions lasting a minimum of one-hour.

…And-o thinks that these are fair…’cause missing the net on a penalty shot is a really stupid way to give away a point!!!

Come on And-o , the rim doesn't move around like a goalie on the shooter. To use that comparison, would be like me saying the same about a golfer not sinking every 20 foot putt. Hell they always miss the hole.(At least I do). Even Tiger misses.

Slightly off topic (not meanin' to highjack, but golf was mentioned lol)... I heard on the news that some dude got 2 holes in one the other day, how amazin' is that?  (not sure who.. I don't follow golf... & when I play I only hit 30% of what I swing @ lol )

Anyone notice that Ryder can't deke?  All he can do is shoot (and quite well too) but I don't think he is the best guy to choose in a shootout.

Anyone notice that Kovalev hits the post more often than the net?

Just my thoughts on the shootout.

Yes and-o...I agree. When I used to play, I would score on all my breakaways.

Basically when a netminder is all alone...he is useless. Goalies suck and  are usually are beer drinking losers who know nothing about hockey.

They typically end up coaching minor league hockey somewhere in the Mirimichi and have bald friends who often get fired. They are also prone to getting divorced and finding another chick latter on in life....

PS: Just poking fun.... my attempt to get Barry posting again( if he is still reading...)

Um, speaking as a goalie, we have the definite advantage in shootouts, so unless you want to aleniate forwards for no good reason, that is not a good idea.
