Guys...I just don't feel comfortable with Kovy and Sammy. Are they going to be second line center killers this season with their fancy dancy but ineffective lazy play? Will we be blaming the centers all season if we never see chemistry between the Russians? Sure we're not deep at center but Plecs is the best we have for now on that line.
I really think Carbs has to break up the Russians. They're just too much alike. They both like to dangle the puck and tonight it was painful to watch especially Sammy. I would drop Samy to fourth line untill his off season rust wears off and put big Murray on second line for grit and to create open ice for Kovy and Plecs....just a thought.
Also, I think Sammy was a waste of a signing to begin with but we're stuck with him. Carb just needs to utilize him better until he gets it together.
I totally agree AB-Hab. I groaned for a week when I heard Gainey had signed Samsonov. I don't expect him to score more than 12 goals this year, and what's worse, his loose play takes away the chances for another player to actually do something effective.
Sergei played well when he was lined up with big bruiser forwards in Boston -- something we're in short supply of. I'd put him on the 4th line with La Laundress and Bonk and let Begin work with Kovy. The 2nd line needs some grit, and the 4th could use some hands. (They all could use some luck -- and some better defensemen behind them.)

Les Canadiens sont la
Desi, also want to add that I hope Carb doesn't feel obligated to keep them together or on one of the two top lines because of their pay. If they don't have chemistry or deserve to be there, than move them elsewhere.
I also pouted for a wk. I just don't like what Sammy offers. Always a minus player. I would take Zed or Bulis over this guy. At least they don't frustrate me as much.
As someone who was not totally happy to see Samsonov in a Habs jersey, I still want to put things in perspective here. Samsonov has actually been a pretty good two-way player for most of his career. He is also adjusting to playing with Kovalev, and that's a hard one. Give the guy some time to get in the groove and he'll be a plus, if not exactly what the doctor ordered (a big #1 centre, but we all know that). Sometimes you have to give a line time to get it together. Remember that two games ago that line looked scary good.

Plouf...you're right..it'll take time. My frustration lies in the fact though that the work isn't there. How hard will they work to make it happen? I can appreciate a lack of chemistry if there's at least hard work to make up for it.
