Ribs blamed the Montreal media for his departure!!!!
I won't go into detail about what he said exactly because it's not worth the key strokes (No pun intended).
Yes Mike, you were NOT traded due to your lack of size, speed, character....etc
You WERE traded because reporters influenced Gainey to trade you. I did say Gainey, right
AND then he pleads for reporters not to do the same thing to Latendresse as they did to him. Mike, you were such a victim of vicious, vicious attacks. (I was actually one of those who wanted him to succeed - key word: wanted).
Now that he'll be in Dallas, I wonder if he'll sport a Cowboy hat instead of his hip hop style head gear.
Sorry for the rant but I don't think anyone has sympathy for cry babies.
THe media may have forced Gainey's cards more than we think. Almost every habs fan hated Ribs and almost every Habs fan wanted him gone. Just imagine how that affected his play. Now i for one wish Ribs much succes, and I hope that the media does not give Latendresse the same rollercoaster that Ribs got. First he was the hometown hero (Sounds the same as of now) then his play suffered. Then he made some dumb mistakes and some unconfirmed comments that got plastered everywhere and then the boy who could once do no wrong could do no right.
If you're disappointed not to see newly acquired center Mike Ribeiro in action Wednesday, blame U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. It's not easy to get a Canadian-born player cleared and into the lineup in a couple of days, so Dave Tippett said the Stars won't throw Ribeiro into the lineup without preparation. Ribeiro could practice today.
Superhab, I understand where you're going here BUT he very bluntly confirmed that it was the medias fault that he was traded.
Yes, the media can say what they want and the fans can show their displeasure BUT it's very simple...he put HIMSELF in that situation. In Montreal, if you give a constant effort and you're not a flake off the ice, you'll be fine. Not great but fine.
OK, so why isn't the media ragging on Begin or Bouillon or Heut...because they have no reason to. Once again, Ribs put himself in that situation.
Lastly, sure Gainey is influenced by the media but to say that it's the simply the media who convinced Gainey to give him the door is ridiculous. With the holes at the center position that the Habs have...they traded Ribeiro because he plays like Ribeiro.
Unlike And-O, I do not feel BG had any intention in trading Ribs because he was the only real french "darling" for the media and the fans. But the emergence and siging of Latendresse allowed him to move him without being attacked for it. There is no conincidence that the Ribs trade was announced the day after the Lats signing. They go hand in hand.
