Why so quick to think about trading Perez and Kostitsyn? This seems also to be the point of view of the media in Montreal these days. I've heard opposing points of view from fans; that RDS, etc... are overrating Latendresse who is dominating against crap goalies and amateur opposition, talking about him like he's the next great Hab, while consistently downplaying anything the two young Russians do. Hmmm.....I can't imagine what could be the cause of this.....
Gotta be careful not tomake opinions based on a handful of meaningless games. The only way to know for sure is to wait 10-15 years and then say I told you so (if you were right.) But seriously, it seems like we have a glut of young players that may become really good...oh what's a GM to do?
I think Latendresse deserves a spot on this team. Let's face it, we need scoring. He's had two good preseasons now, so why not let him try it? What's the worst that'll happen? He'll suck and be sent back down to junior? At least we'll know then that he was given a chance.
Why not give him 10 meaningful games and go from there with Latendresse. I also agree with Plouf about Kotitsyn and Perez..I wouldn't trade these two talented kids this early. We need to go with the philosophy of keeping and playing the best players. If that means waiving Downey, Ribs or Bonk! The Downey signing was just plain silly when you have the tougher and better players in Begin and Murray in your line-up. Time to go with the hungry younger talent. This team needs passion.

That certainly was not the case last night, plouf. Ottawa had most of their stars dressed, and Gerber played two periods (Latendresse scored once agaainst each goalie, I believe). Latendresse was the best player on the ice, bar none. I know this is based on one game that I saw, but man this kid has all the tools, and size and grit. I sincerely hope he sticks.
