Might be a pleasant surprise this year. There's no denying he's shown a lot of character for Switzerland. Let's hope he keeps up the good play for the Habs (blocked shots, power play goal, assists - can't complain). Nice to have someone who can skate and has vision out there.

I agree Plouf. I felt he really began to settle in last year towards the end. In an interview last week he indicated that it was a huge adjustment going from the Swiss league to the NHL (no kidding eh?). In reality, he is the only guy, aside from Markov, who really has wheels and can move the puck consistently with speed. I am looking for bigger things from him this year.

I agree, Barry (when don't I, eh?).  I think Streit will be a quality D-man, with offensive skills.  A good puck-carrier; I would liken him to Peter Svoboda.

Svoboda had a mean streak though. He was a sneaky dirty player at times.

Not that I was complaining when he was so solid for years, for OUR team.

It's great to hear that Streit has been maturing i nthe NHL and moving the puck well. We certainly need some skill in that area. But my big dig against Streit last year was his play in the defensive zone and his seeming inability to shut down the other team's forwards. I hope that part of his play improves, too, as the season goes on.
