Chris Chelios I am always the last player on the team to put on my uniform before a game.
Patrick Roy Before every game, I meticulously lay out each piece of my equipment on the locker room floor and I always dress myself in the same order.
Between periods, I juggle with a puck and bounce it on the ground. Then I put it in a special place where no one will find it and make off with it, otherwise... so the legend goes, bad luck could befall the culprit and he would suddenly turn into an alligator.
Stéphane Quintal On the day of a game, I never speak to anybody after one thirty in the afternoon.
Peter Svoboda In between periods, I put my stick away myself, always in the same place.
Jocelyn Thibault I wear number 41 because it has been “my” number since the minor league.
Before a game, I always lay my equipment out on the floor in the same way and six and a half minutes before the game, I pour water over my head.
Bob Gainey In between periods, I always ask for a drink made with 30 percent Coke and 50 percent water. I’ve had this habit ever since I started to play for the Canadiens.
Stéphane Richer No. 10 is stamped on all my sticks.
Stéphane Lebeau On the day of a game, I get up at 8.30am. I have my usual breakfast, orange juice, oatmeal, two slices of bread, and a glass of milk. Then I head off to team training. When I get back, I always eat a hamburger steak and watch a show on TV. I have a 90-minute nap in the afternoon. Four hours before the game, I eat a plate of spaghetti. I arrive at the locker room at around 5pm and I put on my underwear. In the two and a half hours before warm-up, I chew 20 to 25 sticks of gum and drink lots of water. I tape up my three or four sticks for the game and, before every game, I jump in the dressing room spa for three or four minutes. Then I put on the rest of my equipment.
Bobby Smith I use surgical tape to protect my wrists instead of hockey tape like the other players.
Mike Keane I prefer to cut my hockey sticks myself to the length I want. So I spend my time before the game sawing and then taping four sticks. While I’m doing this, I drink up to three cups of hot tea to help me relax.
Guy Charbonneau I hate to color black, so I always use white tape on my stick.
