I guess I can comment. Didn't realize this one was on RDS. The best two players were Saks and Higgins. Ryder looks like the same old Ryder...very predictable. Latendresse has to stick. We need this guys size and grittiness. Kostitsyn looked good with Bonk. Locke was the best player on his line as Kovy and Samy were lousy and out of sink. Price is a big solid goalie and definately has a future in the NHL. Chipchura plays between his ears. He has really good hockey smarts both ends of the ice that will make up for his lack of speed. Johnson impressed me also. Good all around player that will have more to offer than the one demensional Samsonov that never back checked in his life.
All in all, you can tell the Laffs will be improved. Their young legs matched out speed and Raycroft was soild. They beat us without Sundin.
I liked Benoit on our blue line. Good speed and can skate the puck out. Streit skated well also and was the blue line spark plug. I'm not worried about Souray. He's a leader that can log alot of minutes and fire the puck. He's needed back there. Komy will be great this season.
Pre season or not, the Leafs have been the MUCH better team..period. Thye have outworked the habs badly and that is not a good sign. Part of the problem is Carbo's "my lines are all but set approach". Too many veterans cruising along because thye know thay have a job. Latendresse deserves to stay. He lead the team Friday night with 3 hits. Two pathetic things about that. A rookie leading the team in hits..and the fact that 3 lousy hits are enough to lead th eteam, especialy in a game against Toronto.
So far, same story. Outworked, outshot, and outhit.
