after all the hullabaloo about Koivu ...

..it would appear that Kapitan Koivu is the only one so far who has made any impact , yes ! yes I know it's early but so far none of our vaunted sure fire prospects has made a big impression , our defence looks worse than ever and for my money Danis and Price have outplayed Aebischer and Huet .......but let's see what the next two games tell us

..............................but without question the Captain is holding up his end of the bargain ..

I'll be seeing him in action on Monday, and will add my two cents then.

You've stated this so many times...I'm beginning to believe he isn't a woman.

What has he done to impress aside from show up? To date the whole team has looked lackluster but it is only pre season. Like last year when alot of people said "Well at least Saks is not AS bad as most of the other forwards". He is our highest paid player and the expectations SHOULD be high. Give it a rest.  After all thetalk about his eye and whether he would even be able to PLAY this season, expectations are pretty low.

Blame the usual Saku Sandbagging for that Barry33!!!

Simply repeating that "Saku is THE man" over-and-over is just plain whistling past the graveyard!!!

And-o gave Saku kudos for showing up to the first exhibition game and FINALLY ending the latest injury saga...but people need to expect wayyyyy more from this guy than mere attendance.

Bottomline...this guy needs to pot 25 goals and 60 assists this season!

Saku will have 70 points. Expecting more than that is foolish. He is a career .80ppg player. Why would that change all of a sudden?

It's not foolish to think that an improved team with the additions of Johnson,Samsonov and perhaps a few rookies will balance some of the strengths of this team making opposition less likely to focus only on one or two lines. As well with the new NHL rules, less hooking and more speed should certainly help Koivu. This applies to the team in general and not only to Koivu, so our expectations should be higher of all our veterans.

I think 85 points is unlikely And-o, unless Koivu switches to the first line and plays a lot on the power play. My guess? 70-75 games, 70-75 points.

You and John are right on, plouf.  If Saku is a career .80ppg, expect 65 points.  Anything more is a bonus.  And 65 points plus his leadership intangibles (and the production he seems to encourage from his linemates) is worth his contract - no matter what And-o expects or demands.

Well Plouffy...not sure how much more PP time Saku can get...and what team have you been watching these past few years???...cause Saku is the top line centre!!!

...and if expecting 25 goals from your top line centre is foolish - And-o is very guilty of that!!!

However, And-o has loads of criticism for the likes of Kovalev, Samsonov, Ribeiro, etc... after what has been shown so far!!!

This offensive (regardless of line-up) needs to pick-it-up BIGTIME!!!

I don't remember reading much of this, And-o.  I'm sure for every word of criticism you have written for Kovalev, Ribeiro and Samsonov combined, you have written 10,000 words on Koivu.

No doubt he's gotten PP time in the past. I'm just wondering if he'll get that sort of time this season. I also don't think he's on the #1 line this season. I think you misunderstood what I meant, And-o. I'm talking about this season.

IF, however, Koivu does get switched to the Kovalev line, I too would expect over 80 points, and would be disappointed with anything less. I know he's been a .8/game point producer, but that was in the dead puck era. I expect almost a point per game this season if he gets enough PP time. Even if he's second-line. I expect even more if he's on the top line.

This team should , in theory, and even with Carbonneau as coach, have a better offense this year. I'll be annoyed if they don't.

Nil'd this post may sum up the And-0 lunacy best. Everyone esle gets a side mention, meanwhile Koivu gets pasted at every turn. Despite the fact that he is generally the habs most important player.

I am begining to think that And-o thinks koivu is a klingon...
