Some of you will know I that quit my job last year and , other than a bit of contract work here & there, have been in the search ever since.  Well, on Tuesday I start a new job as Corporate Controller for the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia.  It's been a longer haul that I had planned, but it will be great to get back to a regular gig.

On another tidbit of news, I may have sourced tickets to the Habs/Ottawa "Hockeyville" game in Truro, NS, this Monday.  Sorry, Barry, the other one is spoken for.

Thanks to all of you for giving me a regular routine every day (going on this Board), which helped to keep me sane during the past year.  My posting frequency will undoubtably decline from this point (and only at night!).

Cheers,

Nil d

I noted that you were moving, but what does that mean employment-wise?  Is there a new job as well?

Nil, what ever happened to the work you were doing for the Commonwealth Games?  I wanted to hear about the inner workings of trying to secure an international event, but you never spilled the beans.  (Get it, spilled the beans, Nil is a bean counter.  I'm here all week, folks.  Tip your waitresses and try the roast beef)

In all seriousness, how is that going, and are you still involved?

Congrats Nil!
What exactly does a corporate controller do? Sounds important.
I was at the AGNS (affectionately known as Agnes in Halifax) not too long ago. Nice place. Expensive to get in though. Maybe that's the first thing you can change, haha....

It was a long time coming! Hope it pans out Nil. Obviously you have experience at the administrative level.

Nil, it's been too long coming - and congratulations.  You stuck with your ethics and it paid off!

I wish you and Jane could join us at the reunion on Oct. 21 - hey - just thought of something!  You won't have any holidays at your new employment for a bit, right?  So your trip to Bermuda must be "nil" and void?  (sorry, an attempt at humour after a week of sleeplessness nights - and Nil, thanks for your kind words re Monty).

Good things are happening here on this board - Beak's busy at law school, AB is getting us all talking again, And-o is giving kudos to Saku...Mrs. And-O is busy in her new career teaching...Johab is a wonderful young man that I can't wait to hoist one with, considering I feel as I have known him since he was 14...and Mario keeps us all coming back!

Nil, don't go far!  And please say hi to your lovely wife.

I had been working there off & on, as needed, since mid-June, but I gave them notice I'm no longer available.  As for spilling beans, I signed a confidentiality clause, so no beans will be spilled.  Frankly, I was not at all involved in the budget for the Games themselves nor the operations of the Games (should we get them), just the bid effort.  We will know in November 2007 if we get them or not.

Thanks, Muller.  It's a Government job (part of Tourism dept.); pay is not great, but the perks aren't bad.  And I'm working downtown again after many years in the outskirts.

Thanks, Davidb.  And how's the arm?

The Controller is like the CFO - I'm in charge of all financial matters at the Gallery.  Admission is only $12 - I think a steal.  I may even crank it up.  Kidding!

I do indeed. Thanks, AB.

Thanks for your kind words, Di!  I am still, regrettably, not going to be at the reunion, as the Bermuda trip is very much still on.  Yes, there's much going on with us, mostly good.  It's sometimes easy to forget that we all have personal lives behind our on-screen personas.

Nahhh the news is all good for me MC..just that the timing sucks lol. Tanya and I have been doing the long distance thing for 9 months and I have been quietly seeking employment in Halifax...a 4 hour drive from where I live in New Brunswick. Tanya works for an event management company there. Anyways..after months of driving back and forth I have another job offer that will allow me to move down with my sweetie. Figures..it would have to start the week after the reuinion :o(

Well Nil.    I am hoping for a return by January   yes January. Atleast I know the Dr I have is very good. He was the Red Sox Team Dr who operated on Kurt Schillings ankle for the 04 World series. He has just been joined by the formed Team dr of the Yankees. They will have a hell of a practice. Thanks for asking. Maybe this means I can finally get up to a game this season LOL. All this time on my hands

Hey Nil

Sorry I didn't see before (moving on Thursday and slaving at work)

But great to hear that! Should be a great job with interesting people all around

Hope you make loads of Monet, don't dilly Dali, and more than anything don't scratch the wrong area in public, or they'll call you Picasso...

Best of luck man!

Very funny.

On another topic, I just came in from the rain, where I watched the Rolling Stones prance around for about an hour and a half.  We didn't have tickets, but could see pretty well from just outside the gate (with binoculars).  Man, I hope I'm in that good a shape when I'm 65!
