Thread is used for discussing anything Hockey Pool related.
First note of buisness, there was a glitch in the drafting where 2 goalies were picked up on 1 team, dunno how that happened, but Bleublancrouge ended up with only 2 goalies and 9 forwards (missing 1). There is a -no bench- policy, so one of the 2 goalies will have to be moved to waivers.
Speaking of Waivers, up until October 3rd 6PM EST, trades and waiver pick ups will be allowed as a show of good will to those who missed the draft. A warning, teams trading amongst eachother to simply 'stack' a team will have their trades rejected by the Commish. Also, abusing the waiver system (If you have a waiver priority of 1, and you tell another person that you wish to have 'XXX star player' to put him on waivers to avoid going through the trade route to bypass the commish) will result in punishment, this is a pool for fun and lets keep it that way guys!
im not sure what im doin on this pool but i'll figure it out i'll play around with it for a while until i know what im doing but if anyone has any tips for me on well anything please tell me
Sorry I couldnt make it to the draft, I had work that night. Considering my absence i think i have a pretty well constructed team. Withthe exception, maybe, of Zerdev, but I might wait and see what happens with that whole situation.... what do you guys think?
BTW i think we should allow waiver pickups and trades thoughout the season. one of the more fun parts is switching around players thoughout the seasons, especially when one is slumping, or finding that diamond in the rough on waivers that no one else saw....think about it, cause right now, the involvement in the league will drop to zero after Oct 3rd. Cause other than looking at the standings, there is nothing anyone can do to their team...
I replied to your question on the pool page, and I'll also address another point you brough up here.
Moving players can be fun, but can also be frustrating as well. Like I said, I'm in a number of different pools, some of them don't allow trades, some do, some are pools that span 5 seasons at a time. Every single one of them is exciting to me. However, changing the rules now, after the draft is crappy IMO, for one reason, people wouldn't have drafted the same way knowing you can dump players.
Another point is that some people like to sit back and watch, that is their choice, but you'll come to find that the standings will be very polorized halfway through the season because some people do drop off no matter what.
If more than half the poolers want to change it, we'll change it, but I'll put a cap on the number of moves one person can make, so it won't be a free for all like in one of my leagues, this one guy has 34 trades, 18 waiver pick ups--we drafted 2 weeks ago .
As far as I am concerned, someone asked if there was going to be a pool. Jay volunteered to set it up and informed us of the rules. We then signed up. I vote to leave it as it is. I don't want to come off as a pr!ck, but, we did know the rules going in.
