Is Hasek worthy of Hall of Fame
Permalink Closed

Prior to last season, I was sure that The Dominator was Hall of Fame bound. Today, I read an article in The Ottawa Citizen which makes me think this guy does not deserve a single vote come the time. Players for the Sens are now confirming that Hasek would not answer the call when his team-mates were in most need of him. He was training, strectching and capably handling shots in practice during the critical second round against the Buffaloe Sabres. One player told this reporter that the players begged Hasek to play. What would he have to lose, if he got hurt again, at least he would have tried. Wondering if Hasek regrets not giving the old college try.

I heard he was a big distraction to Avery and also Cujo before in Detroit. I guess that's why it blew my mind that Wings wanted him back.

He had a great career but probably always thought about himself before his team.

Hey AB - I totally agree.  I have never had respect for Hasek but he drove it home in Detroit and made me dislike him even more (if that's possible)....I can't stand the guy.  I didn't think I would ever feel so bad for Cujo.

Hall of Fame?  My vote is yes, with a caveat - his ego stays at the door.  Then again, Roy is right up there.

I had little respect for him when he played in Buffalo and then when he went home I lost all respect for him because of his actions in the league over there. Returning to the NHL again was a mistake. He is not the goalie he was and he has destroyed his personal rep.

If we look his achievements, those tell you that he should be in Hockey Hall Of Fame

6 Vezina Trophys, 2 hart Memorial Trophys, 2 Lester B. Pearson Awards(I think that he is only goalie who has won these twice) and 2 William M. Jennigs Trophys.

I think that he was one of the best goalies in the world, maybe even the best. He is still good, but he isnīt great anymore.

What comes to Avery, everything and everybody is distraction to him.
