Carbo was interviewed by La Presse and gave his insights into his coaching style and his thoughts on the club's personnel for the coming season. Carbo indicated the following: 1) the team will not play a trap system this year. He wants fast aggressive intelligent play. 2)Huet and Abby will openly compete for the number one job. 3) Believes there could be a couple of surprises at camp that could force a lineup change or two. 4) Bonk and Plekanec will compete for the third line center position. To that end Carbo believes that he can help get Bonk his scoring touch back! (Good luck) 5)Carbo indicated he will not be a task master, believes the players should be responsible for their behaviour on the ice.
It would appear the Habs might employ a 2-1-2 forechecking scheme which would better utilize the teams greatest strength, team speed and could generate better overall offense, as opposed to the more conservative trap system the team employed last season. Let's hope Carbo encourages the likes of Markov and Dandenault to more frequently jump into the rush to create more odd man opportunites. By asking the players to be more responsible Carbo it would appear is calling for the likes of Koivu ,Souray,Rivet,Kovalev to step up and be real leaders on and off the ice. If Carbo is looking for a young player to step up and force a roster change, a player like Perezhogein may not have a guaranteed position this season. Still have some difficulty believing he can get Bonk going again, and to possibly have him gain ice time at the expense of Plekanec but obviously Carbo is confident in his vision of developing the Habs for success.
I already like Carb's coaching way better than Gainey! Having an agressive attack fits the rosters talents. I just hope our team defense doesn't allow 45 shots against per.
Can't blame 45 shots per game on the defence alone. There's 5 players that need to keep the puck out of the defensive zone. Also remember it would help if we had a goalie who could handle the puck to speed up the offensive attack.

I agree. Lats year Gainey's 1-2-2 and even at times a 1-1-3 approach was both boring and ineffective. We keep talking about how much team speed we have, well this new system will utilise that. The downside about allowing your dmen to jump in all the time is that you leave yoruself much more open to two on ones and breakaways. Given the fact that we do not have much speed on d, that is a concern. However I still think a fair trade off.
