Even through all the rumors, Gainey has already said he was done with the "market." News folk have nothing to talk about if there is no news so sometime they make some stuff up. I'm sure we've been set since Sammy and, like was said, just waiting to see which rooks make the team.

I think this is it at least for now Newf. The only "movement" Gainey has left in the immediate future has to do with wating too much bran and not a trade. We will start the season with what we have and see how it comes together. These guys may surprise us. New coach and new attitude. Ribs has alot of pressure on him and there is alot of questions about Saks' eyesight. If those 2 things iron themselves out to the positive, we could be in decent shape.,

This is it. And I for one am anxious for the whole thing to get under way.

I think we have three lines that can put the puck in the net.

Koivu - Higgins - Ryder -- finished the season great last year. Pick up where they left off and we're good.

Ribs - Kovalev - Samsonov -- hopefully they mesh and we get a big season out of everyone.

Pleks - Perez - Johnson -- may surprise quite a few people with good defensive work and adding quite a few goals this year.

Bonk - Begin - <sub> -- Downey, Kost, Murray. Depending on opposition and injuries. Good depth, and speed for a fouth line.

Komisarek - Markov -- Markov should have a very good year (contract year) and Komi should finally break out to become that special defensive D.

Rivet - Souray -- both in contract year, both usually reliable, although it seams to me that Souray tends to get overconfident at times and his passes out of the zone are a little soft. Mean duo anyways.

Dandenault - Bouillon - Streit -- I added Streit because Bouillon is out for a while. I think Streit might surprise as he got better as the season went along last year.

Huet - Abischer -- Huet should come back to form, if not Abi can do the job (just not superstar level). In any case, the two should push each other to good performances.

Coaching staff should be good. Carbo is one of the best students of the game i've seen. Jarvis has been an assistant forever. Muller probably has more to learn than the others in his new position, but he should be good. THe important thing is that everyone is comfortable with each other. If we start like last year and finish like last year and not get a prolong slump in the middle, we should easiliy make the playoffs.

Oh yeah, did I mention I was anxious for the season to begin.
