So im not the only one here who has been watching golf today! PErsonally, im routing for tiger, but i will not be upset if weir wins being he is a VERY close 2nd favorite golfer. The guy has been on a tear today and JUST missed his birdie from about 40 feet. Wow. Wouldnt it be great to see Wier and Tiger paired together tomorrow in the final round!? ...AB....being im not sure how many other here can stand watching the sport...

I love watching golf on TV, and am a huge fan of Mike Weir.  I taped the PGA today, and just finished watching it.

Unfortunately Weir has a history of not doing well in final rounds when he's near the lead (Masters notwithstanding).  I remember that 80 in the PGA a few years ago.

I'll be cheering for him big time tomorrow!

Actually I am one of the few who is NOT a huge Tiger fan. I see him as being a product of the Ra Ra American Media and from what I have seen, he is not the most fan friendly guy in the world in spite of the fact that it is the fans who have made him a multi-millionaire. Weir on the other hand is your typical Canadian. Humble, approachable and just plain nice.

Barry, read the entire response before you blast me...

He's a product??? Barry, this guy is the best player by a landslide. The other players on the tour fear him...Weir even admitted this morning that his chances of winning if Tiger is "ON" is not probable.

When Tiger is "ON" he is a level above the rest...that's what the players on tour attest to. Why do you mention "Multi-Millionare"? With his 50 carreer wins (the fastest one to reach that milestone), I think he STILL would of be a M-M...right?

I'm a Weir fan, with Tiger as a close second but come on Barry, just look at Tiger's accomplishments....oh, and if you had no privacy, were bombarded by media, and pratically couldn't go anywhere without being surrounded, would you be extremely freindly? Maybe yes, maybe no but don't make him sound like Barry Bonds.

If I had a son (or daughter) I would have no trouble having Tiger and Weir as their role models...

Key Lime- I will not blast you because I agree with most of your points. The guy can play the game. I do not dispute that. And he is far from Barry Bonds. But he has had his moments. Someone has the nerve to take a picture when he is swinging a club and he comes across as a spoiled kid and starts hollering at the guy. He has had his moments. As far as being bombarded by the media I never ever like hearing that as an excuse for being an idiot. IN ANY sport. If you do not like the attention then quit the game (and the billions and lifestyle that come with it) and go work at Wal-Mart. Tiger has worked very hard to get where he is today. Just like Gretzky and Crosby. In fact there are many parallels that can be drawn between Woods and Gretzky. Both had Dads who pushed them very hard from day one and made them practice day in and day out to get where they are today. But the fact remains that if Tiger Woods were a Canadian, he would not get half the attention that he does now. As for him being a role model for kids.Absolutely. You do not hear about the guy getting in trouble in bars. In fact you hear very little about him off the course period. In that respect he is a great role model.

I'm a big Tiger/Weir fan and if it comes down to the last 2 holes to decide who wins it if it comes to that, I will be on the Weir badwagon.

As far as Tiger hollering at photographers, there is not a guy or girl on the tour who doesn't have his moments, it's just that Tiger is in the limelight all the time, so you are more apt to see his impatients with the media more often. He has a great personna, the fans love him, and he is great for the game.

Well put. As I said I do not dislike the guy. I dislike the fact that he, like any other Amercian athlete, is blown up to be more than he is by the American Media.

True, the American media NEEDS their heroes. They always did but it's a sign that he's really a in a class of his own when other medias like the British media di it too. Did you ever hear the Brit announcers at the British Open...very pro-Tiger also.

It really smells like the off-season when we get into a discussion on golf...

Whats really scarey about Tiger , is that he has matured so much and now plays within himself. Imagine playing 3/5 woods and irons off the tee where everyone else is playing a driver and he is still walking away from them. I really thought Ogilvy would give him a run today- just wasn't gonna happen. Bravo Mike Weir!

Found this Tiger quote... thought it was funny.

"Hockey is a sport for white men. Basketball is a sport for black men. Golf is a sport for white men dressed like black pimps."
~ Tiger Woods

Well, a final-round 73 is certainly better than an 80, but after being right there with Tiger, it was disappointing to see him go 4-over on the back nine.

That Tiger is a machine!  Weir could not sink a putt over eight feet; Tiger never missed one under twenty.

Dont you find it amazing though, the attitude and reaction of golfers like Wier, Ogilvy, Davis Love and Sergio Garcia? Instead of resolving to practice more and get better, their attitude after the match was "Well, he has to screw up sometime. He can't keep winning like this forever". I know Woods is good..great in fact. But this attitude is bizzare. Instead of vowing to get better and beating the guy..you instead go through the motions and pray he breaks a wrist, has an emotional breakdown or something. Bizzare.
