why is it that when it comes  around to talk about trading a player(s), one of the names that keeps poping up is RYDER! this is a toung player that came up through the habs farm system and is producing year in and out, he is going to make mistakes, but, he will score! the question is" WHY SAY TRADE HIM AWAY?" ISN'T THIS WHAT GOT MONTREAL IN TROUBLE THE FIRST TIME, because if we do, then he will come back and bite us in the ass!!( remember leclair, he became a hab killer).

I get the feeling that Ryder isn't completely happy playing in Montreal. I could be wrong but it's just a thought that keeps popping up in my head. Next year will tell the tale when negotiations begin to re-sign him I think....

I agree with you! Also think that Ryder hasn't improved from his first season. Probably due to his injury. Never the less, many commented on how one demensional he became including myself. How many 30 goal scorers do you know of that only end the season with 55 points? More goals than assists and a -5.

Hard to judge because Ryder deserves this coming season (hope he's healthy) to show his stuff. If he can become a more complete player than no don't trade him. Also agree with you though that he'll control his own destiny. If he doesn't want to be here, it'll show in his play and contract demands next year.

i must ask what makes people think he doesn't enjoy playing here in Montreal? Now i am asking this honestly because I must have missed out on the obvious signs... Is it because he wanted to go to arbitration? or are there other factors?

I think the reason you hear his name alot is because, in all reality, he is one of the few tradeable commodities that Bob Gainey has right now. Lets face it. He has been shopping Ribs to death, no takers. Koivu has a no trade. Souray may be tradeable but that leaves us thin on the blueline. Ryder can be traded. There would be teams very interested in him. And he would not leave a huge hole in the lineup if we got something decent in return. Does that mean I think he should be traded? Absolutely not. Pick his game to pieces if you wish. Call him one dimensional or lazy. The bottom line is that he is the only legitimate goal scorer on the habs team right now. And yes, Kovalev needs to hang his head in shame that a kid from the rock who was playing in the east coast league a couple years back is outplaying him.
