Well, its official,after four decades harry Sinden is leaving the team. He had a great career with the Bruins. They are really pushing for a cup with the Chara deal and a few others. I just cant imagine the Bruins without Sinden.  By the way Ando  did not see your post until after i made mine sorry, why do u hate him so much  I agree the team will be better without him. But remember Jeremy Jacobs hold the purse strings

Do not get me wrong, I am in no way shape or form a fan of Harry Sinden's, but, before he is called a joke and accused of screwwing up the Bruins, I think a few facts should be shared:

  1. Sinden was the head coach of Team Canada in 1972;

  2. Under Sinden the Bruins have won the Stanley Cup twice (70 & 72);

  3. They have gone to the finals 5 other times (74, 77, 78, 88, 90);

  4. They won the Presidents' Trophy in 90;

  5. He allowed Ray Bourque to be traded to a cup contender to end his career;

  6. He was the only GM in the league trying to keep salaries down (no, I don't think he was doing it to save the game, but rather he was keeping his job);

  7. And he is not the one who traded Joe Thornton away.

And, yes, the Bruins have not done done well for the last decade or so, but he kept his job as he made his boss alot of money.

The greatest executive ever???  No, of course not.  But neither is he a joke.

Great post, heet!  I was never a fan of Sinden's (he was coaching the Bruins during the great Habs-Bruins rivalry years), but I always respected him as a capable hockey man.

Good post also, davidb.

(Can't believe I'm defending Harry Sinden.  Now back to regular programming........................)

Not trying to start an arguement but 7 years of success  two stanley cups,but
(32 NOTHING) ,come on ,does that justify,or is it the Harold Ballard era when he didn't care if he had a team of  pensioners on the ice ,because the rink was full, so i guess even back then in THE BUCKS were the thing .Oh ya was Bobby ORR part of those stanley cup seasons 70 & 72
not sure,i think he himself won those cups... DIDN"T HE?
