Need to get this off my chest..and no I HAVE no axe to grind with Bob GAINEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here we have Koivu, our ONLY legitimate NHL center at this point, limping into the season with a 3 year no trade clause, not sure if he can even play hockey again. Gainey did nothing to address that this off season. If Koivu hangs 'em up where do you think we will be this season folks?!??? Oh ya..we have Lapierre waiting in the wings to take the number one spot!! Now the cube. Out til mid November. Maybe longer. Bobby sees fit, knowing full well he had a serious knee problem, to tie up cap space and sign HIM to a 3 year deal. Hmm..let me see..oh ya!! Mark Streit is licking his chops..err..no he is hurt too...COTE!!! Cote will be our 3rd Dman for the fist half of the year!! We are all set!!!

I know w edo have depth in our system guys. But when things like this happen, it is painfully obvious that the depth is not ready, right now.

agreed barry , just when we start to look forward to the season and bob was looking good after getting sammy and johnson , the sh!t hits the fan and we are left shorthanded at d. im not worried about koivu just yet , but come mid sept , then me gets worried to bad you cant drop a injured player because id drop boulion and grab vishnevski , hes a bigger boulion and blocks shots to boot .hec id grab him anyway , boulion will not count against the cap while hes out , by mid nov. we should know if huet is for real so we could trade abby for a pick and have the same cap hit .

I find it hard to believe to think that Gainey didn't even try to do anything about it. Seriously. We posted to death about why no one wants to play in Montreal. It is over simplifying to lay blame on one man.

Let's put some positive spin to this - at least we'll get to see what some of our recent draftees can do with the big club.

Here is how I see it...habs beat last years point totals by 10 points regardless of whether Koivu plays or not

Barry, I totally agree with you on this one, here we are starting the season not quite 100 percent. BG should have known we needed to do something. This signing of the cube with this injury and using that cap money really pisses me off. Sorry all, but I am beginning to think BG is not so smart after all.  By the way a young Mr Demers(18 yoa) was arrested here in my town yesterday for disorderly conduct. His address he gave us was in Quebec   wonder if hes related mmmmmmm

On a lighter note.....maybe we can get Carbo, Muller and Jarvis to lace them up and become the only team in the NHL with a coaching staff that is playing............

I dunno, Barry, all I can say is that loyalty breeds loyalty and that there are more important thing, even in hockey, than cap space. It's this kind of thing that makes The Canadiens the "class act" that we on occasion are so proud of.Expect the Cube and (hopefully) Koivu to run through a brick wall for the Club when they come back...Speaking about Koivu, I think And-o should surprise us all by showing up at the game in october

INJURIES ARE PART OF ANY SPORT,I WOULD SAY I WOULD RATHER HAVE THEM NOW THAN THE MIDDLE OF THE SEASON. THERE NEVER GOOD NO MATTER WHAT TIME OF YEAR ...BUT THEY DO HAPPEN,I'M SURE SOMEONE WILL STEP UP AND TAKE THEIR PLACE.DON'T HIT THE PANIC BUTTON TO SOON LOL

Barry I believe that you have no axe to grind with Gainey. Water under the bridge.

But I do think you are oversimplifying by laying the blame for our situation entirely at Gainey's feet. Clearly every team in the league wants a top-two centre (look at the bucks people are willing to pay for the likes of Mike Sillinger in the desperate hope he will be a key player)...the fact that Gainey lost out is probably due to a bunch of things beyond his control. I'm not saying it isn't his job to deal with those things, but that doesn't mean that because he failed to land that centre that he's not doing a good job. Failure happens even to people who are doing a good job.

There are 29 other GMs...None of them (well....I'm not sure about Colorado or the Islanders lately) are idiots. Even maintaining slow improvement with respect to the others means you are probably doing something very right. And in Montreal, the way star players avoid the place like the plague, slow improvement counts as a miracle at the moment.

Give Gainey time. Things have only improved since he's been here, and I look forward to more of the same.
