I personally think Gainey will keep him, just to be sure that Huet wasn't a fluke, and i know we all pray that ain't the case. Come down to the trade deadline and Huet is still the right man for the pipes, then i'd say Abby will be traded to a team who needs a goaltender for a playoff run. With this case, it will give Denis another bit of experience in the farm club (even tho i personally think he is ready for a back up job) but the playing time will be good for his development. So, my answer to the question: Traded at the deadline.
Abby will not go anywhere until Gainey is sure that Huet will not turn into another Theo. Huet has half a year under his belt..who is to say he will not be a flash in the pan? I would say that if buy Xmas if Huet is playing strong (and Danis is ready to back up) then look to see Abby dealt to a team looking for goaltending for a playoff run

I just don't think there is a market for him anymore. Most of the teams have their goalie situation locked up, and some teams like us have a credible one - two punch (examples- Buffalo and Anahiem). It will be nice to have Abby to fall back onto if Huet gets hurt, but i was disappointed to see him not dealt to help us down the middle. Nothing against him but he would of attracted something I believe if he was dealt when all the free agent spending started. I can't see Abby being happy being the #2 guy.

The only team really needing a goalie, Detroit, is out of the running now. They signed Hasek to a one year deal.

I agree Jay for a couple of reasons. As I said, Huet is still a relatively unknown commodity. BG will make sure that he is able to pick up where he left off last year before he looks at dealing Abby. As well, let's face it. Abby has not done alot, either in habland or Colorado, to have teams pounding down Bob's door wanting him. So if he plays, say 20 games or so before the trade deadline, and puts on a good show, he will be that much more valuable then and BG can pick up someone in a trade for him.

Exactly, he'll be worth that 'franchise player' that people say we can get for him

With the lack of depth and skill on our D, we need two solid goalies to get us through to the playoffs!
Expect a 50/30 split in games played (that works out to 62.5% to 37.5%) UNLESS Aebi is traded mid season. But there is nothing wrong with sitting on a hot stock if we expect the price to go up, right?
I like the 50/30 spilt. But I think BG will stay with the hottest goalie. If Huet gets hot it could end up being 60/20. On the other note, it could be Abby playing 50 games. The hot hand will rule our net this season.
I really don't see how ABBY would be a # 1 goalie, is it me ,but i'm thinking "WHY" would the avalanche get rid of ABBY,who is suppose to be a # 1 goalie, and pick up the-odour? Are there reasons for this,it really doesn't make sense to me. Huet plays a square to the shooter ,Abby plays square to the "ICE", i'm sorry girls and guys, i've said it before ABBY is a flopper, never in position, he was never any good when he was with the AVS. Again "WHY" would they get rid of him if he's a #1? Yep he makes 3million less than the-odour and they let there # 1 goalie go,
I'd be really interested to see that explained to me.

Yep..it seems that the only one who thinks that Abby is a legitimate game-stopper number one goalie is...Abby.

Like many have said there is noone looking for goalies right now, and he is good insurance if Huet falls apart. I sense that after the Xmas trade freeze Aeby will be gone to a team whose goaltending is not as good as they anticipated it would be. It always happens, someone's goalies will fall apart this year.
