Johab when i was reading your reply about what the HABS don't have,i was kind of confused, but i read RWP2le's reply and he said what i was thinking,he "hit the nail on the head". You talk about OTTAWA -SPEZZA,HEATLY,etc.and the other teams you mentioned,
STATISTIC's don't mean nothing, just look at buffalo, they went further than OTTAWA.

lack of CONSISTANCY:They weren't consistent at the first part of the year but Gainey straighten that out when he got behind the bench.

Lack of a PROVEN elite goalie: WARD was a proven goalie?

Too many 1 goal games: Thanks to huet--if theodor or abby were in the nets (NO playoffs)

UNPROVEN COACHING:LAVULETTE (however you splell it) what did he win before this year,he was with the ISLANDERS

They are one of the grittiest and hardest working teams in the league and when they play together they are a very tough team to beat. (I say your right on the money with this statement  JOHAB)

theres no getting through to you is there?!

Im not even going to bother, you either get it or you dont, and im tired of trying to explain it to you. A GOOD TEAM IS BETTER THAN A LUCKY TEAM! I dont want montreal to be a edmonton, anahiem or carolina and make the finals one year and then not even make the playoffs the following year. I want them to repeat or at least have success the following year. It really isnt that hard to understand!

Take it easy johab. You are one of the most down to earth posters here. Let's not go the AB->JohnM->And-o->Muller route....

...and, just for the record, And-o thinks Minnesota is VASTLY under-rated!

They will be tough this season!

...in fact, the West looks tough so far...SJ, Dallas, Phx...YIKES!

I'm liking Phoenix (if not the Habs) , but that all depends if Curtis Joseph can have another solid season

you gotta remember guys that last season we had all kinds of injuries, stupid suspensions(Markov), that "Theo crap", so I think that if we improve a bit we will be in pretty good shape. I'm not saying w'll go all the way, but stranger things have happened. (Do you ever get that srange sense of deja vu?)

I say Canucks win, and the Sabres will not make playoffs. I have feeling it was a one year fluke.

I say an NHL team, either from the East or West Conference will win.  And most likely they will take it in 4 to 7 games in the final against a team from a different conference.  Seriously, the jury is out.  No one picked Caro to win last time around.. No one even heard of TB before that.

Actually there was one lady who writes about the Devils (Sherry Ross?) who predicted Carolina and she got roasted for it... smart lady.

Long Dark Horse the Kings, they made a few moves, and Garon picks his game up they could make some noise.  As for the favourites in my mind, Calgary adding Tanguay will help Iggy and their d-man and goalie are second too none. In the East, I gotta say the Sabres, injuries killed their chances of going to the final, they have a very solid team, the lose of Jay McKee will hurt huge but bringing Spacek in they got a capable backup guy. Man I wish the Habs would of made a pitch for him, very underrated.  The Sabres goalie situation is great.

I really don't think Buffalo will make it in this year, but if they do I have a feeling they will have a 1st round exit.

Johab- I just got around to reading through all of these posts and as one who has been lambasted for being too negative and being told tyo go cheer for another team, let me tell you I am on your side. Why does it need to be black or white on this board? I get sick and tired of people jumping all over you because you have the audacity to disagree with them! Because you do not think the habs have what it takes to win a cup this year you are told to "go cheer for another team, I hear Atlanta is looking for fans"!????!?? Give me a huge and colossal break.

This board is all about diversity. That is what makes it fun and unique. Yes I could come on here and say "Ribs will score 40 goals this year and be a dominate center in the league, Saks will be in the top 10 in  league scoring, we will rip through every team we play in the playoffs". "Souray will overcome his penchant for giving the puck away".  "Streit will prove to be a valuable 6th defenceman". Of course as habs fans we all HOPE for these things. But because guys like Johab and myself do not have blind faith in these things does not mean that we should be shunned and told to go cheer for another team. Grow up people.

Hey Barry the great thing about this board is everyone has an -OPINION-( it's like a$$holes) everyone has one. The thing is not to take it to serious,it's all in the conversation your OPINION,my OPINION ,not everyone is going to agree with what anybody says hear ,that's the perfect world, which we're not in.  lol

& I'll say it again .....

Not one of these posts have the ability to make or break what happens with our season. It will not change our reality whether someone thinks the Habs will or will not make it. Unless I hear that "so & so" (insert whatever name you want) is a hockey psychic who has never been wrong, you have no right to ridicule someone for who they did or did not choose.

It was a simple question that should have never come to this.

People who said the Habs will win, should not have been insulted because they have unshakable faith in their team & others who picked another team should not have been shunned for speaking honestly & voicing a differing opinion.

WE ARE ALL HAB FANS, REGARDLESS OF THESE OPINIONS. Remember, we are one big HAPPY family on gohabs...... who here can honestly say that they've agreed with their actual family members 100% of the time???? I bet not one of ya!!!! lol
