GOMEZ, RYDER SWAP? ST. JOHN'S EVENING TELEGRAM: Robin Short reported over the weekend on the possibility of the Montreal Canadiens swapping Newfoundland native Michael Ryder for New Jersey Devils center Scott Gomez.
but, that was the rumor, only if ryder went to his arb.. case and won a big pay raise!
I love Ryder, but OMG I would make that trade in a minute. Ryder is our 2nd line right winger remember. Comparing him to Kovalev is like comparing Saku to Gomez. Gomez between Kovalev and Samsonov means a 50 goal season for one of those 3. But man would I hate to see Ryder go. He is by far my 2nd favorite Hab.

Them's fightin' words.
I agree that Gomez is better than Ryder, but the difference between Koivu and Gomez is a lot less for sure than between Ryder and Kovalev.
i would keep Ryder also,i think Ribs is as good of a playmaker as Gomez, they both stay away from corners and Ribs is about 4M cheaper...if we are to make a pitch for somebody let s get
Simon Gagner,,,that would make more sence on our needs
Well Gomez is a better skater than Ribeiro, to say the least. He doesn't need killer linemates to make room for him. But I agree with you pretty much. If we are going to look for a replacement for Ribeiro, let itbe a physical guy, please.
