Alot of variables here..but lets not forget that they missed the playoffs by a whopping 3 points last year (I think). What will put them over the top this year is not the players they signed (although I think they have improved with the signings)..it will be the fact that Paul Maurice is coach now. They have a younger team and he relates well to the kids and has coached many before..so I say they sqeak in

PS- everyone try to keep your bias aside when you vote..I HATE them too!

Leafs wont make playoffs this year they're not even sure if Raycroft is the same 1 of 2 years ago...

Well I will start by saying I don'y care either.... but I will put in my two cents.

The only way the Leafs will make it to the playoffs this season is if they get to play all their games 5 on 4 like they did last year. lol

Haha, that's very true! And to think, they complain about the refs!!

Seriously though, I think they'll barely make it. No higher than 7th or 8th and I see a first round exit.

To be honest, I think they will finish 5th or 6th, but as Jedah said they will be out in the 1st round of the playoffs (knocked out by the habs)

they have alot of ? coming into the season , their d is marginally better but only have 4 so will have to dress 2 rookies or belak . thier goaltending is worse as of last year , telly is a backup at best , aubin no better and rycroft has not performed well lately. thier forward are no offensive powerhouse , they have sundin but not much else , so i say if the stars aline they make the playoffs but not ahead od the habs .

Goaltending is a joke

Andrew Raycroft = Jim Carey, Aubin + Tellqvist = Career Backups.

Defence is decent not great. Nice top 3 (even if two of them are overpaid), getting rid of Aki Berg helps, the kids should be okay, Hal Gill, and Wade Belak are wastes of time. So is Luke Richardson (or is he gone??)

Forwards, after Sundin its a big Question mark. Can Jeff O'Neil rebound. Is Mike Peca a guy whose pts totals have dropped every year really a second line centre. Will Darcy Tucker repeat a career season. Alex Steen, Kyle Wellwood and Matt Stajan I like but are still young. Ponikarovsky is inconsistent. Antropov has never lived up to the hype (waste of space).

Overall the Defence is good enough for a playoff team but their forwards and Goaltending will keep them on the outside looking in.

even leaf fans that i know can't stand this guy the words i hear most when refering to him is clumsey and slow. defensively the leafs may be from alright to down right terrible depending which players we see. raycroft from last year or rookie season? McCabe the offensive tank or the defensively retarded? and besides Kubina the rest are more or less nameless to me. offense: Sundin who seems to be going down hill ever so slightly and Peca who seems a bit overestimated in his ability. tucker i have a feeling will be watched a bit more carefully this season and will bring penilty trouble (unless the leafs paid the refs off) allison wont bring a damn thing to the leafs and kilger will prove that last season was a stoke of luck and show why he was let go by the habs. the leafs will either make or miss the playoffs by 5 points at most. a few improvements but still some brutal holes and big question marks
