Is there any connection to any player there or personel or the city for any reason? Figured that him being from the Rock makes him either a Hab or Laff fan...not a Hawk fan....

I'm pretty sure I remember hearing on Hockey Day in Canada or somewhere that he grew up as a Leafs fan

This really bites! The Canadiens gave this longshot (9th round pick) a chance on developing him into an NHL calibre player and then as soon as things may appear not to go his way he wants to quit. This is a classic case of "biting the hand that feeds him" situation. Professional athletes are so spoiled. I just hope this is rumour without validity. Athletes already have such a spoiled image already. We don't need Ryder exemplifying this image anymore.

Not only that, but this guy is one of the few on the team who is dangerous everytime he gets a shot. He has a great shot and is almost a sure goal scorer if he is in the slot. We cant afford to lose the 1 guy who can score goals (30+) on our team. We're offensively challenged enough....

Samsonov should be a 30 goal man with his new line mates.  He scored 25 last year.  Kovy has 30 goal capability, and if he was healthy all year last year would have scored 30.  But still, Ryder has to stay, I think he will get 50 goals within the next couple of season.

Well IF (BIG IF) he has to go I'd rather him go to the hawks rather then coming back to haunt us with the leafs, Ott Bos basically the N east foes

I think everyone should take a deep breath and relax

1) Ryder and the team are trying to settle their dispute through arbitration..it is never a congenial process....IF he even said it, its probably just posturing.

2) Ryder is a 2nd year restricted free agent, he's not going anywhere, or at least without some compensation.

3) Our GM is NOT Rejean Houle, I don't think Gainey will mess this up.

4) I really don't think players pick teams based on who they cheered for as a child. There are so many other factors.
