That just goes to show you that these clowns still make wayyyyyy too much money (far too easily as well)!
Imagine And-o walking into the boss's office first thing tomorrow morning and saying...I'd like to just log in from home exclusively...but I'm willing to forego any/all step increments and I'll take a $30K pay cut??????
And-o's question for Mike Peca is......what would you do for a living if not for hockey???
D'uhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mike Peca should have to answer to the NHLPA for publically going against the basic principles of bargaining (and just for being stupid)!!!
And- O- I agree with you..these idiots on skates are STILL vastly overpaid..what bugs me is this..why the hell did we lose a whole season of hockey?!?? It seems to have solved NOTTA. Salaries are still going out of site and the cap will probably be in the 48 mill range next year..leaving Montreal scrambling to be competitive again.

Just confirms my point during the lockout, these owners were NOT losing as much money, and revenues were NOT as low as they claimed. Now that the PA has people examing the revenues closer we are seeing the cap climb.
The cap is a percentage of league revenue, before, some teams were losing a disproportionate amount of money and others were making. The teams need eachother for the league to prosper, redistributing revenue to smaller market teams ensures that all teams, in the long run, have the CHANCE to be competitive, (some teams just keep on hiring dumb GMs so they dont have a snowball's chance in hell...you are all invited to my 40th Anniversarry party of NO CUPS 4 THE LAFF$). The league cant have teams folding or else the league looses legitimacy in the US, no one watches, no one spends money (at least in the US).
The net effect is that the total amount of $$$ spent on players remains the same, except (1) retarded owners can't go on a spending binge artificially raising players salaries; and (2) teams that would not have spent that much $$$ can, and others are limited.
The trade off, to both the players and the owners is that guys can seek UFA status earlier, so players can make more money prior to the old rule of 31 when they are past their prime, and teams can rebuild sooner by hitting the free agent market...
Now, this all makes sense, except for the fact that toronto signed pavel kubina for 5 mil a year...i love it...but then again....most GMs have a brain.
barry if the cap isnt working then how come nashville can sign arnott , edmonton can sign peca and pronger last year , the list goes on and on , again the cap was not about limiting the amount 1 person can earn it was about limiting how much 1 team can spend . without the cap detroit , dallas ,tarana the rangers would be up around 70 -80 million now and the nashvilles would be looking for the scrap heap to fill a roster . and next year when the cap goes down (it will ) we will see teams scrambling to get under , us included .
