I smell a Ribeiro ditching in the future.  I say he gets 20 games to do something and then bye, bye.

Higgins Koivu Ryder

Samsonov Pleky Kovalev

Kostitsyn Johnson Perez

Murray Bonk Begin

I don't see Pleky in that spot.  We will bring in a legit #1 center, we have 2 top 3 forwards now, #3 is the missing piece.

I look at that lineup i posted and see last years buffalo sabres.  Three lines that can all fly and score and one line that will do the checking.

Maybe plecks isn't a number 2 centre, but look at the line he's centring, he'll do good between those two, and the third line can step up and score too.

I know what your saying Beaker,  I just have a feeling the BG isn't done yet.  Hey does this make Saku our 2nd line center now?  No way Kovy and Samsonov are playing on our 2nd line.  Plus Johnson does play center, maybe he will center them.  I don't know, I am just happy we brought in a world class player like Samsonov.  Man can he FLY!

1. Higgins-Koivu-Kovalev
2. Samsonov-Plekanec-Ryder

3. Perez-Ribeiro-Johnson
4. Murray-Begin-Bonk
Kostitsyn-Downey

I like the look of that lineup too!!!!  Wow so many possibilities.  Kostitsyn still gets 60 games with the inevitable injuries some rotating with Murray, Perez, and Ribeiro depending on who is cold.

The possibilities are endless.  Wow, I can't believe how happy this has made me!

I know, I love the moves today.   LOVE IT.

To Bob Gainey I'm sorry I started just for a second to doubt that you would get anything done this summer.

All Hail Gainey.

I agree,  I was starting to doubt him.  In Bob I trust!

And-O And-O..all you did last year was cry about our center position..please tell me what Bob has done to address that? Johnson is not the answer and you know it. We are still limping into the season with A feable Koivu and a feabler Ribiero as our 2 centers. Samsonov is  anice addition (amazing how he seems to be immune to the taxes and media and signed here). But th ebottom line is..we are still hurting down the middle big fellow.

Beaker- Ribs is eating up 1.9 million of cap space. He will play. And unless he improves immensely over last year, BG will be unable to trade him (don't forget he will be a UFA next year too). We can dream about Ribs going but he is here to stay.

Ribs is a UFA in 2 years and the only way to dump him is to package him, but do we want to give up our future?

There are teams that will take Ribs.

Do you think a team like Washington 16 mill for 12 players and attempting to hit the salary floor ($33 mill) wouldn't give a late draft choice for him??

In a pure dump it can be done.

I think Gainey still sees value in him though, and won't dump him for nothing.  IF you want something decent in return, you are right.

Give him twenty legit games to show his worth.  Then decide.

If he still floats about without giving much effort, then waive him, eat half the salary and call it a learning experience.  If he doesn't get picked up, cut him.

But make sure he knows the situation he is in, in no uncertain terms, before hand.  Then pull the trigger, what a message that would send to others who may decide that taking the night off is their right.

I don't think Ribs took nights off. I just think he was too slow and too scrawny for the faster NHL. In essense...he sucked.

The question will be did he spend the summer working on beefing up and working on exercise specific drills to increase his speed( which can be done)...or did he hang out with all the gangsta's...at the mall

We shall see.

Donīt know about the taxes, but i doubt he is afraid of the media. Russians usually donīt care a lot what people say about them.

I would think Russians would like Montreal for that Euro feel and I believe Power when he says that they are media resilient. Apparently Ribs has been working out 6 days a week at the Bell and I imagine that is why Gainey gave him another chance.
