I think we need to face the fact that few players want to come to Montreal , I think language and culture may be part of it , another major issue is the microscope that players are under .....the biggest issue has to be the tax bracket
some lumps on the board have stated naively that ..players go to other Canadian cities ....this just goes show that people who talk like that haven't experienced the gluttony on Revenue Canada .......if I was a player I would not want to play in Montreal soley based on taxes ....Quebec has by far the highest
we can always hope ...there have been exceptions Kovalev most recently ...and we might as well face the facts ....with the salary cap the Habs are going to pressed to keep all the young talent coming up .....no I was wrong ..let me rephrase that , in two or three years there is no way we will be able to afford all our young guys .....and another issue that just won't go away is despite the salary cap there are GMs out there still paying way too much ............someday we will see a player salary cap , never mind a team cap ......it will happen
Ya..I dont know if I could stand losing 5% more of my 7 mill a year..I would not have time to stand in the soup kitchen lines lol..selfish and out of touch players aside though, your point is well taken. It is all perspective I guess. If I am making millions instead of the pittance I get now I guess I would want to sign in a place where I could keep as much as possible.
