Does he not have more skill than maybe 2 of those 3 guys? The only problem I'd forsee if having to hear the "I told you so" from some here. Other than that, I've always said whatever makes the team better.
At the time....AT THE TIME.....the Habs were desperate for scoring! (Didn't Audette just have his career ended???) Anyway, AT THE TIME, not too many GM's in the league would have passed on acquiring a former 30 goal guy for some 3rd string grit.
Cripes...at least they tried to get some scoring!!!
And-o agrees 100% that Aaron Asham is/was a capable gritty banger type 3rd liner...but honestly...Begin and Murray and Downey and Chipcura more than replace Asham!!!
...and this signing sure wouldn't move the franchise one inch closer to the next rung up the ladder!
I'll be the first to admit BG shouldn't listen to me - I think with my heart - and never win hockey pools.
Asham, Begin and Downey on a line have me tearing up remembering MY favourite line of the 70s - Lambert, Risebrough and Tremblay. Heavan help the Canes goalie if we'd had those 3 crashing the net.
On the plus side we could use their first name initials to dub them the Headache Line (ASA) or on the down side their last name initials for the BAD Line - or combine both for the BADAAS Line.
