Is a UFA. Granted he has not done alot. But he has played with Kovalev in the past and they seem to play well. Why not sign him and put him on Kovy's line? Similar to what the Rangers did by bringing in a bunch of "Cancelled Czecks" to play with Jagr (seemed to work there). Why not give Kozlov a try with Kovalev? Throw Shanny on the other wing and you have the makings of a decent line.

Yep it was suggested this morning on Montreal Team990 radio .   I would welcome such an addition.

Kozlov is now 31, has only shown brief flashes of capabilities that would make him a quality player. He never uses his size to his advantage, constantly coughs up the puck, and is not a very quick skater. Last season Lamirello ran out of patience with this guy and had him as a healthy scratch on a number of occasions. Lou is probably one of the smartest hockey men out there, and if Kozlov could not cut it with him, that is a pretty strong message. To top it off, he actually seems to play better on the wing than down the middle. On a goal starved team like the Habs, we need a guy capable of putting the puck in the net, Kozlov has not shown a consistent capability of doing that.

But is he an upgrade on what we already have?  If so, you have to take a serious look.

He is an upgrade over Ribieor which, as it appears now, i swho we are heading into teh season with unless Gainey pulls off a trade. I am just thinking that maybe a change of scenery and playing with comrade Kovalev may make a difference. If we got him cheap it would be worth a shot. You cannot tell me he would be worse than Ribs

We already have a big, slow, underachieving center, and his name is Radek Bonk. Seriously, they could be twins. The only difference is Kozlov is given on offensive role.
