Just think of the cap space!

And-o is (perhaps surprisingly...even to himself) very, very optimistic about this upcoming season!

The Habs have LOADS of solid prospects and LOADS of cap space and LOADS of netminding.

The weaknesses are (and have been) consistently quite obvious...but they are quite fixable (as in, one top-notch centreman...and one solid d-man).

Many of you will be eating crow come October...so careful what you post gang!!!

...one key free-agent and a typical Gainey'esque 'project' player...and And-o will start fabbing up the crow's wings for a few 'regulars' here!!!

CHEERS!!!

According to TSN's salary tracker, New Jersy has 43.48 Million tied up already and they have not signed Gionta or Gomez.

I too have confidence in the upcoming season.

We don't even need spectacular goaltending, just steady and solid. Our defence core has grown together and will do much better this year. The lack of a #2 center and possibly #1 center if Saku doesn't come back should be our biggest concern.

If Ribs can show some hard work, I expect to have a 70+ point season out of him. He won't have the distractions of Theo and Dags around and can concentrate on hockey.

Let's hope BG can work a little magic and tinker with the lineup enough to have what we need come playoff time next year. Just remember if it wasn't for Williams taking out Koivu with a high stick we would have had much higher hopes going into the upcoming season.

Yeah...NJ made their bed and will soon have to lay in it!

...and it would be a shame if Gainey had to trade a 4th and 5th rounder for both!

(And-o has a feeling about later this week (Thursday'ish...call it a hunch!!!)

Ando, I think you, and everyone else on this board knows where I stand!!! I believe that not giving into this shopping spree has benefited the habs!

It has been pretty well reported that the Devils were going to have to make a decision....sign Elias and Langenbrunner which backs them up against the cap and then end up having to dump some salary and it looks like it's going to be Gionta and Gomez or both. I think the Habs are sitting in a pretty good position right now to still make a couple of key acquisitions over the summer if not sooner and I am willing to give Gainey the benefit of the doubt and see how things play out over the summer.

and-o im impressed , you the optimist ? well i agree we will be better this season but we still need to address the 2nd line center ,or first line center from your perspective lol.i think our d is serviceable and i dont think bob will do anything back there , why sign bou and striet if he was going to grab another dman , unless he drops 1 of the others . i like our team if we can get a better center(lang for kovy)and deal the unwanted , we will be fine .

Allright, fess up guys, who hacked into And-Os user name????

I like the optimism And-O and I agree with you, I seriously doubt that BG is done, he is just waiting for the right move, the one where he doesn't overpay for an overrated bum.  Today is thursday, so maybe today is the day??  But if not there is still lots of time before training camp starts.

I really think we are gonna see a trade as opposed to a UFA.

You can only eat so much before you have to take a dump - look for some fatcat GMs running to the mens' room and Gainey waiting by the door with the key.  "I can let you in, but it will cost you."

And-O was right.  Gainey finally signed someone today (thursday).
