The free agency market opened up on August 1st due to the lockout the previous year. It took Gainey 3 days before doing anything. I think its because he knew that when the market opens up, people greatly overpay. Look at the last 2 days, thee haven't been many reasonable contracts! I know gainey will do something soon, and its because he probably didn't want to jump into the overpaying frenzy that happenes when the free ageny market opens up.
