If I was building a team in today's NHL I think the max I would give one player is 6.5, but he would have to be a heck of a player. Anymore than that, especilly on more than one guy and you are really hurting your ability to add quality depth. NJ had home-field advanatge with Elias and they used it well... good for them, but they better hope that he has 7 top years in him. They are saving now, but it could cost them big-time, a la Yashin, in the future.

By signing Elias New Jersey may end up having to dump some salary to stay under the cap because I doubt they can afford to spend the 10% they are allowed to be over the cap and still manage to keep the team competetive over the next couple years.

It looks as though we can kiss Arnott goodbye.  TSN.ca reports that he has signed with Nashville for $22.5 Mil over five years.

Donovan to the Bruins and Salei to the Panthers. You gotta think that Keenan is shocked that he got rejected by the big names since his location certainly doesn't have any government/tax/language problems!

I agree and I also was really interested in Corvo, but the Sens got him... I guess he likes playing cards with the elderly...
